Catching MissingNo Will Destroy Everything You Ever Loved

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“We’ve all heard them at some point in our lives; those hilarious video game myths that seem to stay with us forever, cultivated over time like the pearls in oysters. Beautiful little nuggets of misinformation passed from one person to the next - a growing snowball of nonsense and peculiar vignettes.”

I always loved the old gaming creepypastas, my favourite being the elaborate Ben Drowned creepypasta, with video footage and a meta-conspiracy behind it. Great stuff.

Yukes3510d ago

Agreed, Ben was one creepy haunting. Majora's Mask was creepy enough at times without that! Will never forget that mask that you put on that somehow removes your facial features....*shudder*

I’m pretty sure there’s some footage to accompany the Pokemon’s Buried Alive creepypasta too...

tonmori3510d ago

Pretty interesting stuff. The internet seems to latch onto every myth and legend in video games. The Five Nights at Freddy's conspiracy's are insane :P

c00lvilKid693510d ago

Some are pretty imaginative, others not so much, haha! Either way, it’s like adding fuel to the fire when it comes to the internet.

Bloomin' missingo completely ruined my Pokemon save :'(

GamerGabs3510d ago

Great article. Gotta love creepy rumours in video-games, some of the creepypasta attempts are just hilarious though.

c00lvilKid693510d ago

Thanks, GamerGabs :) Everybody loves a good, poorly written, creepypasta, don’t you think?

I was playing my Gameboy when suddenly, HYPER REALISTIC BLOOD showed up on the screen

Love how developers put these sometimes impossibly hard-to-find easter eggs in games.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_923d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil2d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Wayyy to many games to list but the first 3 that popped in my head.
1.Okami
2.ESPN NFL 2K5
3.GTA San Andreas

DarXyde163d ago

Good list, but I would replace Onimusha with a Onimusha 2.

Amplitude162d ago

Amplitude still holds up brilliantly

Agent75162d ago

I'd say Onimisha 2 and Turismo 4 was better. Maximo, Auto Modellista, Shox, Wipeout Fusion and pulse, Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution to name a few.

piroh169d ago

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic168d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23168d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger159d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
