Rise of the Tomb Raider: Lara Croft's Deaths Are Gruesome and Strangely Hilarious | GameRevolution

Lara Croft, though slightly more experienced than she was in her last adventure, still dances on the precipice between a wild huntress who can single-handedly destroy camps of well-armed mercenaries and a vulnerable heroine who can perish at any moment. The numerous death scenes spread throughout the campaign, let alone the first three hours of the game, will remind you of this fact without fail, yet these moments emphasize the inherent danger and courage of her journey. Rise of the Tomb Raider releases exclusively first on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015 before heading to PC in Q1 2016 and PS4 in Q4 2016.

So glad to hear the gruesome deaths are back!

Watching Laura getting skewered by a random sharp branch as she slides down a river In a death cut scene that appears out of no where on the actual screen was novel initially but made my head hurt after repeatedly watching it.

It's LARA, god damn it! xD

I think the gruesome deaths are completely unnecessary, this isn't a random game hero, this is an iconic character in gaming, who's future adventures we already know about, what's the point of smashing her with boulders, getting impaled, and all the other gruesome deaths.

The point is to demonstrate the reality of how brutal the environment Lara's fighting in can be....its a reboot and although we generally know her future lies as a very beautiful, daring, and crafty raider of tombs we do not know exactly how the story will play out through the reboots version of this tale.

I dont see the problem with brutal death animations...its NOT a Mario game and we see far worst in movies, plus its a videogame, no matter what death animation Lara/the player will ultimately start that portion over, and eventually we'll finish the game, Lara will live on for the next game, devs no longer want to make TR games with her as the lead playable character, so I dont get what you mean. Hopefully we never get to the point where there are some rules about what can or can not happen in a game to even the most iconic characters.

Should be great with added cartoon sound effects.
