SegmentNext - Nintendo’s Amiibo are one of the most popular products the company has in the market. While its console (Wii U) isn’t doing too well, Amiibo are generating massive profits for Nintendo.
I hate amiibos because they feel like DLCs , but they's good because they're nice characters figures imagine mini chif and mini kratos and mini marcus xD oooh and ellie :3
I am REALLY looking forward to Sony's concept..
same here , and I hope they're cheap :3
It's DLC (amiibos) you can collect so at least it does retain some resale value rather than DLC which is one time use.
and I heard that they're reusable , like in WiiU if you have mario amiibo you can use it in every game that support that character ...
I'm not buying no stupid bracelet!
I washed my hands of Amiibos after buying 18 of them. Sold them all except for my Little Mac. Not gonna play Nintendo's game of artificial supply constraints. If Microsoft is jumping into the fray, I hope they don't pull the same crap.
You bought 18 more than i did
Smart beads on a bracelet..? "In various examples each bead represents a character, environment, object, etc. and the software experience displays an animated story based on the characters, environments, objects, etc. represented by the beads involved in an interaction." This sounds.. Unmarketably dumb? Likely a patent they'll never actually use.
Could be great for Hololens, seeing your character come to life in front of you would be great for kids!
Ok, in that case I admit it makes a little more sense. Though I'd think discs or cards or pretty much anything would be more logical than beads on a bracelet? :)
I bought a Mario amiibo and I like it. The figurine is cool. Practically completely useless with the console... but nice anyways. I dont care for this toys to life stuff.... but I would totally grab a Master Chief or Conker amiibo.
Lets just hope that Sony won't do it as well. I don't want to buy action figures for extra stuff in games.
Yeah, we have enough things that are behind paywalls as it is, no need for another gimicky paywall if you ask me.
Yup..dlc..microtransactions, whole season passes and the feeling that all the content was made together with the main game already but is getting sold seperately because they can make more money that way. Thats more than enough already.
Meh. Nintendo, Skylanders, LEGO and DI is enough. We dont need more toys crap.
Not to mention stores like Best Buy, Gamestop, Target & Walmart dont have any more space on their shelves for crap like this. They have entire isles now for just amiibos/skylanders.
Don't need this now. Crappy overpriced shit is already available in abundance in the market.
I don't care and want to support DLC or season passes. And I certainly won't buy and support physical DLC.
Finally I can agree instead of disagreeing to one of your comments ;) Lets post photos anyway!
Maybe a Wii mote is next....... MS going for the casual audience 9 months of the year and the hardcore audience the other 3 months, hey at least they might release something between January and October.
Microsoft why cant you learn to innovate rather than always imitate...
They are doing the Jobs mantra they are paying Nintendo Flattery compliments. lol
I hate this so much.
Sigh... But I guess MS has always resort to copying other companies like others but MS does more constantly.
Amiibo's = basura! This was a radically under-cooked idea. Whereas things like Lego Dimensions, Skylanders and Disney' Infinity are proper Toy's to Life. This crap from Nintendo is simply nirvana for collectors and THAT'S how it should be talked about, in that context.
The Microsoft amiibos probably won't be worth their weight in plastic just like the Nintendo ones. The only swag MS has me remotely interested in is the upcoming Killer Instinct figurines.... I suppose they made some decent looking Halo figures in the past, but I have no emotional attachment to Master Chief what-so-ever.
Microsoft/Sony, following in the footsteps on Nintendo...and this is news!?
Yes, it's bad news ;)
Yes, because like Move and Kinect (for example) Sony/Microsoft cant even copy and paste well...
just like how nintendo following activision/skylanders
Nintendo, making games since the mid-70's...classics for decade upon decade. Activision, noteworthy games, erm...
