No Co-op Matchmaking For Xbox One Exclusive Halo 5: Guardians After All

During a Halo 5: Guardians panel at the SDCC 2015 343 Industries’ development director for the Halo franchise Frank O’Connor clearly stated that Halo 5 will feature online co-op matchmaking. O'Connor now denies the feature and according to studio head Josh Holmes O'Connor's previous statement has clearly been a mistake.

That's a shame. I was hoping for a co-op matchmaking option.

It's a stupid reason - same reason I don't play Spartan Ops on the MCC - no one to play it with!

I would rather have matchmaking tbh

"Your AI bros will be way less problematic than the uncooperative, ammo-stealing, car-crashing diet racist you might have ended up with."

I kind of agree with this statement though. If you really want to find someone to play campaign with in co-op, there are places to search for people.

You might make a friend out of it instead of finding randoms that smoke weed and drunk at the same time, while being obnoxioux.

Not my cup of tea!

It's the same reason why I don't do raids on Destiny. This kind of sucks, but I'll still get the game. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with co-op then....

This is something that I love about Call of Duty, they always have matchmaking in co-op (except in spec-ops in MW2).

I'm not happy about this. Luckily 2 of my friends buying Xbox for halo this oct so I'll be playing the campaign with them.

But I'm more excited for Warzone personally :)

That's suck man I wanted that Co-op though but oh well I can't wait for Halo 5 and there REQ cards:)

I hope M$ isn't listening to Sony fans about what they want Halo to have, that they won't be buying anyways.

Drop in drop out Campaign Co-op is the best option, it always has been. Halo 5 will be Great.

If Neogaff wants matching Campaign Co-op; Neogaff should ask Sony to make a Campaign Co-op game...for starters, then implement this feature...say in Killzone or Uncharted. You know, like in Halo & Gears.

I expected this, but I still dont like it. Realistically I will play through the campaign once solo and then never touch it again, but the ability to jump into a quick co-op campaign level would definitely have me playing the campaign more.

Without co-op campaign matchmaking, I doubt I'll ever touch it once.

343 has taken a lot of peculiar decisions with Halo 5

VER1ON1547d ago

They seem to rewind confirmations made earlier. This might just be a mistake as Holmes explains, but it does makes fans wonder.

Bigpappy1548d ago

I never use match making for co-op. I mostly play co-op with people I know. Finding 3 people to play with is not a problem, and if we are one short at any time, the a.i will take care of the missing person. In any event, if you leave your game open, I am sure there will be plenty people jumping in.

I don't know man. So many improvements but so many features getting removed. All for the sake of 1080/60 (of I recall)? This is literally the 1st Halo I'm not really that hyped for.

I'll get it but it probably won't be at launch and I won't be as excited as the other releases.

spicelicka1547d ago

There's never been matchmaking for Campaign co-op other than Halo reach, so they're not really removing it.

But it would've been great to have it.

Oh well
will do the job.
