"In the early stages of its development, the original Sonic the Hedgehog didn't feature a hedgehog at all - in those days, Sonic was instead a rabbit who used his ears to manipulate and throw objects. The simple change of a species can produce vastly different gameplay, as developers think up ways to cater to that animal's strengths. But why choose only one?"
Josh from Start Replay writes, "After just 5 years in operation, Seattle-based video game developer ‘the Good Mood Creators’ has unfortunately been forced to shut its doors, due to poor sales of their first title, Mekazoo."
They failed on a massive install base (PS4/Xbox1/PC). Goes to show that not all software is "guaranteed sales," when launching on popular platforms.
Sorry for everyone involved, and I hope they land on their feet.
The mechanics were excellent. They just put them into a boring aesthetic, unfortunately.
Mekazoo...Mekazoo...Mekazoo really sounds like one of those titles that’s just out there for comedic use.
Gary Bailey :"Mekazoo is not a terrible game. It shows genuine flashes of fun, and its characters are colourful and cute, but the fact that it repeats the mistakes of much older platformers released two generations ago shows that Mekazoo is a game out of time".
MEKAZOO I CHOOSE YOU!
