Reactionary: 'Destiny' Dinklebot Is Surprisingly Superior Compared To Nolan North's Ghost

Forbes: Polygon published this video comparing dozens of Ghost’s lines delivered by Dinklage and North, courtesy of the massive prep patch delivered to Destiny players yesterday. I wasn’t prepared to ever admit this, but I prefer good ole’ Dinklebot. By a significant margin. And it seems a lot of people feel the same way.

I like Nolan's delivery. It's only weird at first because we've heard Dinklebot for pretty much a full year. Nolan's Ghost is fine

After listening, Nolan's ghost doesn't sound as good.

The writing in this game is bad.

They thought they were hiring 10/10 writers but they hired 5/10 writers in terms of their skill level.

Somebody within Destiny....like in a high level position, thinks this is good writing, otherwise it wouldn't have been approved.

That person, needs to be removed from their position or demoted because they have terrible taste.

For $500 million dollars, and THIS is the writing you come up with ?

It's like a 9th grade kid wrote Destiny's dialogue.

ninsigma3147d ago

It literally makes no odds. It is strange because you're obviously expecting dink lage to start talking but it's someone else instead but it makeseems no difference in the end. Everyone will have their preference of course but once ttk kicks off and everyone is getting into that we will all forget.

The_KELRaTH3147d ago

Personally I find Nolan sounds like hes performing a nursery story for a child..... ooooh what big teeth he has........

pompombrum3147d ago

My thoughts exactly, humanity is on the brink of extinction, but that's cool, our ghosts are still nice and chirpy! Add in the new slightly darker sounding music and Nolan's ghost portrayal just sounds really out of place.

mechlord3147d ago (Edited 3147d ago )

@The_KELRaTH

Ditto...
These aren't some innocent pinky bunnies we are exterminating...Nolan is waay too lighthearted about this.

I can only imagine this getting better if it was Kit saying "OOhryx is comin" at the start of every mission

Other than that, Dinklebot was better all the way.

corroios3147d ago

I dont like it, It seems like a kid voice. We should be allowed to change the voice.

MysticStrummer3147d ago

I think they're both equally meh.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast330d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g330d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka330d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai481d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface480d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard478d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
