The Return of Expansions

Originally expansions were relegated to the PC market with new releases for games like Diablo II, Half-Life, and StarCraft. Their respective expansion packs added hours and hours of additional content and even reinvented the core game in some circumstances. Expansions came out on a frequent basis, but then a shift began to occur. Consoles grew in popularity, PC games faded into the background for a time, and expansions followed suit.
