Square Enix CEO says Final Fantasy VII E3 reaction 'was like a wildfire'

I hope they remember that when they decide to throw around changes....remember that wildfire because it can either be positive or negative.

I wonder how hard they had to bite their tongues when they heard the fan reaction to the FFVII PC port to PS4 last year. It instantly became a meme synonymous with trolling. Apparently they've had the remake in production for a couple of years, but I am amazed that they didn't announce the remake earlier to counter the backlash after PSX.

Then there's the paranoid in me that says they did it on purpose to make the announce this year even more intense.

In true Square Enix fasion they probably pretended that nothing was wrong

That E3 conference! Some of those videos of fans reacting to the megatons are amazing.

This game is gonna be so huge. So many millions of gamers want this. Square and sony are going to hit the mega jackpot with this. Ihope they show more of the game in tgs

They said in the winter more is coming in the video on there youtube page. So maybe not TGS but Jump Fiesta. I hope I am wrong though. Would be nice to hear more about it. :D

Of course it was like wildfire, that's what happens when you listen to your fans.

It's a bit of an isolation thing on their part, I think. Square seemed to listen less to Western audiences than they listened to Western sales data and focus testing in the 2000's, resulting in half-baked Americanized ideas and game designers scratching their heads and saying "How could we make our game more like Call of Duty?" (No really, FFXIII) It's almost like they acquired Eidos and just asked them what to do next, and it didn't work.

Now they really seem to be coming around to the idea that people *loved* their old stuff and probably should bring it back. This has to be in part due to the new CEO allowing it to happen, as he was previously with Taito and oversaw some amazing revivals of Space Invaders (Extreme, Infinity Gene) under his watch.

I just hope they keep in mine that it spread like wildfire because of people's fond memories with the original FF7 game, throughout the development process.

'nostalgia' comment was not always relevan though...because it actually one of best rpg ever make

When was it announced to be exclusive? I hadn't heard about this... Regardless, I was cheering like crazy when the announcement was made. Was such a cool experience to be watching at the movie theater. Could barely hear the trailer, it was so loud haha.

Either way, I can't wait for this game. FF7 was one of my first games that I actually owned back on PS1. Now I'll be playing it again on PS4! Here's hoping they don't mess with too much when changing things around.

It's coming first to PS4, it's not technically one.
