Why do i keep hearing the word "revolutionary" used to detract from shooters lately?

name a single game in the past year or next year that is "revolutionary".

The only game I can really think of is MGS5, there has never been an open world infiltration game of its scale before, with so many ways of completing missions.

MGS5 is the is the ideal representation of a lot of modern AAA gaming concepts, but i wouldnt call it revolutionary.

Crackdown 3 will be revolutionary with it's use of the cloud.

If it works, yes, it will be.

This game doesn't have to be revolutionary to be good. Super Mario Galaxy 2, God of War 3, and Halo: Reach weren't revolutionary installments in their respective franchises and they were still critically acclaimed titles.

Why, after 10 iterations of the same basic formula, would COD need to be revolutionary. If you really feel that strongly, you should have said something a long time ago.

Cod is a child's game nowadays. You don't need skill to play it.

LifeInNZ1138d ago

Actually, you need skill to master it but there are definitely a lot more kids playing COD nowadays.

Septic1138d ago

Disagree. Yes its skill requirement is lower because of its low shot to kill falafel but the latest one does balance it a lot better than many of the previous games.

The specialist abilities add some depth too.
