7 Sins All Gamers Are Guilty Of

Mrs Nesbitt from GamersFTW writes: "The majority of us have had long and plentiful gaming careers: we have conquered lands, collected treasures and thwarted our enemies. However there comes a time where you commit acts to gain advantage over the game, another player and for yourself. Or you have just simply become complacent and think so what if I do this.

Let’s take a look at 7 sins that we, as gamers, have committed at least once in our careers."

Would confess to most of these, but not No.1. Never No.1. Pay-to-win is a scourge on society; an abomination that should be eradicated with extreme prejudice.

But developers need money :P that's usually the counter argument!

Then make a decent game and charge us gamers once for it! See CD Projekt RED for how it's done properly.

I did it once. On bejewelled blitz. Had to beat someone's high score before I went to bed. 😔

Yes same here although I do try to limit looking at walkthroughs and only look at the part where I am stuck although it can be hard not to peek ahead.

I am definitely not into cheats such as infinite life or unlimited ammo. On one NES game I did a cheat for infinite ammo which really did not help that much and I am sorry I can't remember the name. I do remember Battle Toads though. Has any one ever finished that game without a cheat?

As for button mashing I am not really into pure fighting games although I do have some action RPG fighting games that are really fun but my hands ache after an hour, yet games like the Souls series I can play for hours without any problems.

One thing the article did not mention was changing the difficulty setting. While I don't have any issue with making the game more difficult I do think it is poor form to reduce the difficulty (Oblivion and Skyrim come to mind here).

Totally agree. Unfortunately I have noticed this trend in some games and while the game may be good I refuse to pay just to get better items or more lives. Hungry Birds II I am looking at you as well.

Would confess to most of these....particularly the button bashing one :s

"6. Reading online tips and walkthroughs before starting the game"

What sort of madness is this?

Null1136d ago

Exactly what kind of idiot does that? That's the equivalent of watching the whole game on YouTube and then buying the game

MrsNesbitt1136d ago

I've know acquaintances to do this, hence why they're acquaintances and no longer friends ;)

If all gamers are guilty of these, and I'm not guilty of these then I guess I'm not a gamer.
