Until Dawn: Extended Edition is a bargain at this price

Dealspwn: Until Dawn may be one of the best PS4 games of the year and thanks to today's voucher code, you can get a hefty discount off the Extended Edition.

My review of Until Dawn will be ready soon. I finished my first playthrough this morning and was seriously impressed. The teen horror movie vibe works wonderfully with the game and it's a lot of fun, especially when it makes you jump out of your skin. I'm going to replay it tonight, but with different choices so I can test out the different branching options and see how much of an impact they have. Stay tuned for more.

wait there was an extended edition?

Chaosdreams3536d ago

Which lasts about 5 minutes. Great game, but a silly bonus.

2pacalypsenow3536d ago

was it available in the U.S?

ziggurcat3536d ago

what's the extra mission?

yeahright23535d ago

@zigg
Just a stroll towards the cable cars that take the characters to the mountain. I think there's two collectibles along the path. Didn't really amount to anything.

So lame. The 'Extended' edition is just the normal game without the US pre-orders 'bonus' locked out.

Locking out content that is ready day 1 and then charging 25% extra and calling it extended is a very anti-consumer, exploitative business practice.

This is the worst and I am disappointed in Sony/Supermassive for allowing it.

Regardless, Until Dawn is a fantastic game.

Studio-YaMi3535d ago

ِAgreed, even though I love the game, this practice is bulls***.

yeahright23535d ago

Well we created our own monster as far as stuff like that goes. We want our games bigger, better, prettier, etc. but also want the price tag to never move from $60.
I know no one likes hearing this, but we pay too little for games. especially when many of us wait for sales before picking something up. (this is facilitated by things like PS+ and GWG always leaving us with something to play to hold us over).
With them taking home the same amount of money with more labor and resources being used... something's got to give. and that something is rise of things like microtransactions, free to play, pre order bonuses, paid dlc and so on. It's really all they have left to make back the revenue lost due to stagnating pricing in the face of inflation. Now I doubt if everyone agreed with me and prices raised by $20 per game so something, that those practices would suddenly stop, but we did open the door for this to even become a thing.
I know I'm in the minority on this and I'm sure I'll get a ton of disagrees, but it's just my two cents.

I'm renting this game 6 months down the road.

luckytrouble3535d ago

Because he probably has GameFly and forgot to add the game to his queue three years prior to release so that he could be anywhere near the top of the list for it.

supergravity3535d ago

I guess when you live under a bridge you get a warped since of everything including time...When I saw Castles comment I immediately thought, oh that must be 'Troll time'.

Clown_Syndr0me3535d ago

Loved my first play through but I'm disappointed in my second.
Making totally different choices but most the time the outcome is either the same or very little.
Characters dying only change a little dialogue and then cuts out their scenes, nothing majorly significant.
Rent it and complete it once unless your a trophy whore. I shouldn't have bought it full price as finished it in under 5 hours.

this is not a 60.00 game!!!! it should have been digital only and sold for 20.00 maybe 25.00

I'm confused. Did they contribute to the writing of the movie?

darthv729d ago

I think the game writes should be glad... the movie is not that good. Its connection to the game is in name only.

Until Dawn Remake.

Saved you a click.

OtterX12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Boring. The original was a decent game, but not something worth revisiting. I guess this is alright for anyone who never played the original.

Now, Rush of Blood should have been the real priority for a remake on PSVR2.

adamwparker12d ago

Until Dawn remake, Death Stranding, and a random PS4 game?

Until Dawn was already a PS Plus game! And not even that long ago.
The fact that JUST BECAUSE an Until Dawn movie just released in theaters so SONY trying to push the name is not right for us long time subscribers.

CrimsonWing6912d ago

I mean, technically it’s the Remake. It’s possible that many missed out on the PS4 one when it was a PS+ game. I actually was interested to see what this one is like, but had no intention of buying it, so that’s a plus for me… pun intended.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic165d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23165d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger156d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
