I absolutely adored the original Puzzle Quest, and I've spent an absurd amount of time playing Marvel Puzzle Quest over the last couple years, so I was excited to learn about D3 Go!'s upcoming Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest. After matching some colored gems during a demo at PAX, I'm convinced this new quest is going to eat up a lot of my phone's battery.
Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest (alternately known as Magic: Puzzle Quest) is a new officially-licensed puzzle RPG for the Android and iOS platforms. This game is the first of its kind to combine card-battling RPGs with match-three puzzle games. Making matches gives you mana, which allows cards to be summoned, so that you can fight and defeat various enemies from throughout the MTG series.
You can’t win battles unless you have the best cards and know how to make the most of mana gems. These Magic the Gathering: Puzzle Quest tips, hints and strategies will help you defeat your opponents and build a strong deck.
EB: Just about every competent match-three game has an addictive quality that comes from the genre’s simple and rewarding game play, but Magic: The Gathering Puzzle Quest adds a more nuanced and interesting outer game than some of the other crossovers in the Puzzle Quest line up. It isn’t whimsical and there aren’t cute heroes to quest with, but instead we have the legacy of richness from the Magic:The Gathering franchise and a card game that is more approachable and streamlined than full-on MtG matches. The free-to-play, microtransaction annoyances aside, Magic: The Gathering Puzzle Quest is an inspired mashup of two great franchises.
