Yeah, the majority of the critics really enjoyed it. I'm so glad Sony and Super Massive made its necessary week's and refocused the games narrative. It's a fantastic game and certainly more enjoyable than I expected... The demo I played at Road to Greatness wasn't impressive, but the full game is a much more intense than I expected.

I would say the sleeper hit of the year is Rocket League. That game came like an RKO outta nowhere. Huge PSN popularity because of PS+, top seller on Steam since launch, MLG already testing tournaments for it. Sleeper hit to a T.

exactly!! good one! in my definition Rocket League is a fine example of a sleeper hit.

Until Dawn got rave pre-views and many accolades... It has been on the radar of many gamers since they first showed off the game. We knew it was coming and we knew that it looked exactly like what it was claiming to be. To me that isn't a sleeper hit, because we all knew it was going to be good.

Agreed. Several games being listed in this thread like Witcher 3 and Dying Light had multi-million dollar ad campaigns. You can't be a sleeper hit with that kind of spotlight. A hit, sure. But not a sleeper hit. I hadn't heard of Rocket League until it launched, and neither had any of my friends. Word of mouth and people being able to test it out as part of PS+'s instant game collection made that game what it is. It grew from nothing into this monstrous title that myself and most of my friends play on a daily basis, and did so merely on its own merits as a great game.

Will get it next year when the price drops. Sleeper hit or not, it's not worth $60 to me. Has anyone beat the game yet and how long did it take them?

According to the review, the game is worth $60 because of the incredible replay value. Each play through takes about 5 hours and she says that she has seen for completely different breakthroughs. Having a game that you can play over and over and having it play out completely differently each time is really compelling.

I will be picking up the game, but I am also debating whether or not I want to spend $60 on it right now. This would make a nice game for Halloween.

Thanks for answering my question. I don't really care how many breakthroughs there are. For me the game isn't worth $60. Want to know what games are worth $60? Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, Diablo 3, Forza Horizon 2, SkyRim, Halo: MCC, Bloodborne, Halo 5, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Forza 6, etc... I won't play through "Until Dawn" more then 2-3 times and that will be enough.

I'm not sure I understand "sleeper hit"...

I mean I've been aware of Until Dawn for months now... probably over a year.. whenever they first announced it is when I first saw it.

I mean it's been on my radar since the 1st footage. I've always thought it was going to be good and I always planned on buying it.

It's not like the game came out of nowhere and was one of the biggest hits of the year... to me that would describe a "sleeper hit".. a game literally no one knew about.

I think for me its a bit like when talking about Shadow of Mordor last year (though of course in a different genre), in as I knew it was going to be good and many people also knew it but it was still a sleeper hit for most people because of how popular it really turned out to be and exceeding expectations.

I haven't been intrigued in a game for a long time since Until Dawn. I also like the collectibles and how cheesy and "normal" these teenagers act in the game. Definitely a surprise hit! Congrats to Supermassive!
