I didn't see that coming from a mile away nope not at all.
Microsoft forcing you to use the app store, that'll never happen.
/s
Edited to add: When they said they were going to support Steam a month or so back I was surprised, and skeptical. This only reinforces my lack of trust about anything and everything Microsoft says.
Of course not, why fuel the competition. Also, no problem F2p as long as it's done right and they emphasized a point of this already that the system will be along the lines of LoL and Smite, as long as gameplay is done right. I don't mind at all. More MOBAs please?!
"Microsoft forcing you to use the app store, that'll never happen."
-Oh wow Im shocked that Microsoft still prioritizes its own app store over a seperate service they dont own....because by making Windows10/apps and other games function seamless with Steam that is not supporting Steam to my satisfaction so they lied to me. Why can't Microsoft just give away everything they own? I should have known those lying mofos are still in it to make a profit. Oh the horror. /s
You should read Rookie's response to Ashlen below and then you'll understand why what he's saying is false and why you should maybe hold off on always being so quick to bad mouth and troll Xbox articles.
Exactly, this shouldn't be surprising or deemed maliciouis in any way. It's a Windows 10 ecosystem like they stated many times already. Fable, Gears and great future titles should compete very well with steam.
Your hate for Microsoft is showing. You really should take your fanboys glasses off and at least try to be objective.
Did Microsoft say that they would release all their games on Steam? Microsoft said they would support Steam... but they would have be pretty stupid if they were fully dependable of Steam. Support can mean something like: Steam Windows 7/8/10 compatible... or launch some games on Steam (like they are currently doing).
Microsoft have their own store, so it's natural they give preference to their business.
BTW, Steam is trying to move their games to Linux with their Steam machines. What makes you think Microsoft would fully support that?
Why would thay put a free to play , first party game on steam . Thay would have to be idiots . I dont think there are to many idiots at Ms Hq some how.
Your opinion is different to mine. I play good games, I don't hold grudges against corporations. If its good ill play it. I love Steam and but there's nothing wrong with Microsofts Windows App or Xbox.
I am not even remotely surprised. Its their IP so they can make it available where they want. And if you have yur own storefront why the hell not make it exclusive to your storefront?
"But I guess if you're all up in Microsoft's behind lying doesn't even phase you."
LOL..it doesnt phase me because I was getting for XB1 anyway. It doesnt phase me because I dont work for valve. But yeah..your pointless reasoning to my comment makes perfect sense too...I must be up MSS ass, If I dont care that they are not publishing their games on rival service.I didnt care when they said they were going to support steam...was I up MSS then, too?
Why so butthurt? Not like I dont have a shit load of steam games myself....
But yes you are right...companies should put games on rival services...it would be so bad if they pissed you off, right?
I am not angry that they are putting their games on their app store. As I said in the first post I was surprised they said they were going to support Steam.
What I am angry about is the bold face lie it was to say they were going to support Steam.
Yes, when people lie it does make me angry.
And as you planned on buying it on Xbox, I never had any plan to buy it even if it was on Steam.
"What I am angry about is the bold face lie it was to say they were going to support Steam."
*sigh*.... get over it. Not like they been moving mountains for PC gamers these last few years. And given that you said yourself that you dont trust them and expect as much....why are you surprised and then angered about it?
Just let it go. Not like you cant play the game on PC. But as you said you were not buying this anyway...which makes this whole exchange pointless. You wont be buying any MS publish games on steam. I dont recall them ever saying that would be the case. And it should be pretty obvious that the only place to buy an Ms publish game would be on there own store front..thats common business sense.
"Yes, when people lie it does make me angry. "
Its a computer game dude, not your woman. MS dont owe you anything. especially when its YOU who got your wires twisted.Get out more. Things like this should not anger you so easily.
your blatant hate for anything MS is so strong that it is not even funny anymore as "supporting" Steam is not like putting their games on it but just technical supporting it at a full 100% on Windows 10. Smh
Here is the important transcripted quote from that Destuctoid article which you either purposely twisted around or got confused with. My bet is on the former.
"Kevin Unangst, senior director for PC gaming of MS states, "We are not intending to compete with Steam. If anything, we want Steam to be even more successful – they’ve done great things for PC gamers in terms of having a single store.Over time do we want more developers to come over to our store and offer it in addition to Steam? Absolutely. Is competition good for people? Absolutely. But our goal right now isn't to do anything else other than support Steam and help it run great on Windows 10."
Lol, MS was talking about supporting them as to help them run great on Windows 10, it got nothing to do with MS putting games on it.
Also, You do know Games like Fable, Gears Ultimate, AND KI season 3 are all cross playable and on some cases, cross buy with the XB1 version, right, due to XBox app on Windows 10? How is that possible on steam?
It doesn't take Rocket science to realize your angry. MS have been supporting Steam since the day Steam was created. Windows and Steam are the perfect gaming combo. Also MS released 2 Halo games on Steam, Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike, if that's not showing enough support giving a competitive app your primary franchise mascot then nothing will. That's not including all the MS games already available on Steam.
I game 90% on Steam and I can speak for myself that there's nothing wrong with supporting both.
@castilo Have you read the article that Rookie made crystal clear for all, they are supporting steam on windows 10.
For those with poor reading / comprehension skills, he is saying as rookie pointed out, that Microsoft will support steam on windows 10. That is all, nothing else!
That hardly matters what YOU -one individual has done. Those are tremendous #'s, it's like 1 guy on n4g saying he brought a ps4 and returned it, so what? Sony ps4 sales are unchanged and unless YOU or I have something to suggests this is a huge trend what 1 individual customer does really has no bearing on what the masses are doing.
Speak for yourself..and maybe the small number of core steam users of which less than half have a descent enough rig to even play a game at satisfactory settings. Ill buy PC games wherever I get the best deal.
And given that W10 is already in tens of millions of PCs..all of which have that store front and center, giving all those people access to fable legends for FREE..I dont think they will lose out much.
Isn't the game cross-play or perhaps even cross-buy between PC and X1? Perhaps they couldn't make it a Steam title since W10 store and Xbox Live share the same account base, but steam has a different one?
We have a winner. Indeed, that is how cross buy and crossplay works between windows PC and XB1 and it is all linked up to the XB live app on PC. So steam was never an option on the first place.
This is crazy with some peoples' mentality around here is "if it is not on stream" no buy as we know from day one this game was going to be on Windows 10 and the OS comes with a Xbox store so it doesn't even matter if it uses Steam or not but just more MS hate, I guess.
Ubisoft sell their games on steam and then you use uplay to play the games.
So what's the difference?
I've already disabled Xbox Live crap on my PC so they can try to force their games through it all they want I'll stick to PC centric launchers not one designed for a console.
One ecosystem does not work as mobile, console and PC are all different with differing amounts of resources available for each one.
Don't try to put PC gaming and PC gamers into the same box as mobile or consoles as we'll just rebel against it like last time they tried with G4WL.
I don't care as the game is terrible anyway, tried the beta and it sux, I think they need to go back to the single player fable 2 style not 3 my god what a mess. I expected this to be a lot better but as it stands I won't even waste my time.
All this over complaining over a free to play game? From concerned Trolls?
I don't care if its on STEAM or not. It's free and I want to play it. Those of us of the 78 Million who already upgraded to Windows 10 already have the store installed on our PC's. Those that don't, will just have to go to the MS Store and download it for FREE.
Too bad. GFWL was hot garbage and I am in no rush to return to that horrible DRM. Steam is a great service with a dedicated user base. I can see Microsoft trying to keep the spoils to themselves, but it may cause fewer units being moved.
I'm so sick of the limited dripfeeding of info around this game. Either its:
A) the best game ever B) the worst game ever
At this point i refuse to believe there is a middle ground. they are so tight lipped its obscene. We've been hearing next to nothing about it for 3 years. Just bring the damn thing to XB1 right now or stop talking about it until that happnes.
I do like the idea of access from one store if every game from now on goes on it. Many ppl dont know of steam, gamers know but many many others dont. Ppl know the apple app store coz its in your face, its in the system. MS store in your face is not a bad idea.
Well yes ppl are gonna be like what about steam group and achievements etc etc, well xbox live is beast, nuff said.
I don't see the big problem, the game is free on Windows 10 which is a free upgrade.. lol Why go though Steam only so it has to revert you back to Windows Live?
Those crying, honestly, I am a Steam user and I couldn't care less if its Live or Steam.
Whoever thinks MS will play nice with Steam needs to get their head outta their @ss!! MS never plays nice with other companies, just ask Sega how well their deal went... Or even apple, Ibm etc back in the day. MS is coming for Steam mark my words.
I didn't see that coming from a mile away nope not at all.

They can shove their windows 10.
There going to lose much money, us PC gamers use Steam only when possible for a reason...
ahwell i was gonna torrent it anyway
