Ranking The Metal Gear Solid Games

Stu at Sushimonster85 writes 'I feel its probably best to start Metal Gear Solid V week by laying my cards out on the table, with a ranking of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. To keep this brief, I am focusing here on the main, numerical entries. Perhaps later in the week we will find time to look at the various spin-off’s, and handheld games. Unfortunately this does mean omitting Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the game Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain picks up from, however I am yet to fully play the game, and if we include that we start down a dangerous rabbit hole that eventually leads us to AC!D, and no one wants that.'

Mine from worst to best (canon only):

Portable Ops (honestly don't know if this is canon, but most refer to the Patriots truly beginning in this game).

Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 3

UNKLE3558d ago

best to the worst

MGS2
MG1
MG2
MGS1
Ground zero
MGS4
MGS3
Peace walker

ocelot073558d ago

Best to worse:

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear Ground Zero

Just because Ground Zero is bottom of my list does not make it a bad game. Its good just my least fav MGS game.

Am not even including the likes og Metal Gear Acid and Acid 2 or Metal Gear Rising or what ever it was called as they where awful and should not carry the metal gear name.

sushimonster853558d ago

Would you say Ground Zeroes is bottom due to its length? Or do you prefer the gameplay style of the older MGS games?

Becuzisaid3558d ago

Sushi, since you're commenting on here, why no Peace Walker on your list?

ocelot073558d ago

I do prefer the gameplay to the older titles but it is not a big factor. The length of it is a major factor. As there is only a few missions. Plus I felt a bit uneasy with Chicho's hidden tapes which went a way to dark for me.

TheFirstClassic3558d ago

this is my list if you put peace walker under mgs1.

Summons753558d ago

My list, best to least favorite

MGS3
Peacewalker
MGS
MGS4
MG
MG2
Ground Zeroes (simply because I'm mad Konami forced Kojima to tear it of MGSV when it should have been the first level of the game, f you Konam) but this will be grouped with MGSV when I know where on the list it goes.

Gamers Concerned About Borderlands 4 Potentially Costing $80, Gearbox Chief Randy Pitchford Replies

Randy writes: "A) Not my call. B) If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen."

*no one buys the game*

Randy: "Where are our real fans?"

*gamers stare back*

Real fan? What the actual f*** man

Does he actually read back what he writes before he posts

I was the biggest BL fan. I played the original solo for so many times. I pre ordered BL2 that loot chest edition and loved it. I bought BL3 on sale and never even touched it's DlC and have very little interest in 4th. For a series that started so strong it's just amazing how much nonsense this series has become with idiot choices

toxic-inferno27m ago

It is amazing how similar my story is to yours.

Many of us bought Borderlands 3 out of a sense of nostalgia for how much we enjoyed Borderlands 2 (which is, to this day, a great game). But despite buying everything Borderlands have released, the last time I wasn't disappointed by something they produced was the Tiny Tina DLC for Borderlands 2. That was over a decade ago...

It doesn't come with Denuvo on PC, while checking Steam.🏴‍☠️

Pretty excited for this the art style I wish was slightly more distinct that Streets of rage but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love some Shinobi.
Really feeling It's the year of retro revivals for me

Shinobi
Terminator
Gex
Croc
Tomb raider IV -vi
Thps 3+4
Oblivion

It's a good year to be an old dude stuck in the past.
