How to enjoy Everybody's Gone to the Rapture: a real Englishman explains

Matthew Elliott:

"Let’s start with a test. Try pronouncing the following English place names: Loughborough, Bicester, Belvoir, Cholmondeley. If you got all four right without cheating, congratulations! Albion welcomes you, the gods of Tweed and Gingham approve, Gog and Magog are yours to command. Proceed unmolested to Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and have a jolly nice time getting your heart kicked around like a chicken nugget in a car park."

I'm English too, and this game sucks a dick.

Angeljuice3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

It looks just like the villages around where I grew up.

That's the main draw for me, I would have been around 13 at the time of this games' setting and its a really good representation of that time.

The only thing that spoils the illusion is that the plug sockets were rounder in the eighties, the squared edged type were not prevalent until the nineties.

Honestly, if that's the main thing I notice, it must be pretty good.

David at SQUAD writes: "Over the past few months, I’ve found myself lost in a number of books set in my home-land of the United Kingdom. Then I got some games in a few sales -- Assassins Creed: Syndicate and Vampyr, if you must know -- and realized I’d done it again. This got me thinking: does the video game industry do a good enough job of setting games in a diverse set of locations, and how many games are set in the UK anyway?"

Ubisoft's Zombi was set in London I believe.

geekmandem1829d ago

Yep, ZombiU was indeed. A game I actually saw recommended a few times. It's weird that it stuck with so many people.

DSOGaming writes: "These past few weeks we’ve been showcasing numerous games that were visually improved by Pascal Gilcher’s ray traced Global Illumination method/solution for ReShade. And today, since it’s a slow news day, we are bringing you four games that have been showcased with this alpha Reshade version. These games are Dying Light, Crysis 3, Battlefield 4 and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture."

Again Reshade is not Raytracing, is a screen space post processing effect. Thats like calling SSAO "Global Illumination"
