"Rarely can there ever have been such a great fuss over a hairdo. It all began in late 2010 at the Tokyo Game Show, where Capcom unveiled DmC: Devil May Cry with a short trailer showing off the new-look Dante. Younger, grumpier and a good deal darker on top, this angsty smoker was nothing like the cocksure, silver-bobbed protagonist fans knew. The reaction was far from pleasant. Ninja Theory creative chief Tameem Antoniades puts it bluntly: “The vitriol was immediate, aggressive and relentless for the next two years. Without a second of gameplay being shown, it had been written off as a disaster in the making.” Looking back at forum threads from the time, you can see his point. “Kill it with fire.” “Is Dante emo and gay now?” “Ninja Theory is on crack.”"
It's been six years since Capcom dropped Devil May Cry 5, but it's still more than worth replaying in 2025 thanks to its rich gameplay.
Because the anime is on Netflix and we gotta ride that DMC in the news again wave.
It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!
Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.
Steam's Summer Sale looks primed for Steam Deck players - with a huge collection of titles on offer for the handheld.
VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."
3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them
2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.
God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best
Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...
5, 3, 1, 4, 2.
I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.
But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me
I remember all the uproar over this character design and I never asked anyone but I guess I can ask it here, for any fans of the older Devil May Cry games why do you like that look so much? Imo the newer one has a better style because the whole silver look never clicked with me, I even think It looks stupid in animes.
I shall not fear for my bubbles.
i hated the new direction of the series. especially when they changed the background story of dante and virgil...plus them mocking the original dante also pissed me off. the new dante was catering towards the western crowd and that sucked i think....
The game was awesome!
Ahh I love this.
Fans : WTF the combat is so dumbed down. The heck?!
Everyone else : y u h8 haur?!
People should really learn to listen. Then again, this is the generation of ego-trips.
