Just please don't be a souls like. I get that Lies of P was a good game, but im so burnt out on the genre

Obscure_Observer226d ago

I think they´ll probably follow more of a "The Witcher route", just like Crimson Desert.

toxic-inferno226d ago

Why would it be a soulslike? Just because Neowiz are publishing it, doesn't mean they're directly involved in the development.

Lies of P was developed by Round8. Neowiz are game publishers (albeit with more involvement than some publishers).

Before Lies of P, Round8 were known for making a free-to-play MMORPG, while Neowiz focused on GaaS titles. Yet together, they made one of the better single-player games of 2023.

isarai226d ago

No, because nearly every rpg these days is a soulslike

jznrpg226d ago

@isarai not even close to true.

anast225d ago

@isarai

There were roughly 270 (possibly more) RPGS released in 2023. There have been roughly 60 Soulslike games released over multiple years. Let's say all 60 of these were released in 2023, which they weren't but let's say they were. That would be approximately 22% of all RPGs are Soulslike. It's not most, but some. Now, let's move this to a 4 year stretch. We can infer at least a 1000 RPGs have been released between 2020-2024, but I will go as low as 800. This would be .075% of games are Soulslikes. I'm willing to bet it would be even less with more precise information.

Hyper Light Drifter game, lets go! PS4/5 please!

CrimsonWing691169d ago

How did you come to this conclusion exactly?

Stanjara1169d ago

Ok, so it has advanced abilities and mechanics, but visually and gameplay wise I mean...
wtf, why did I replied!?

CrimsonWing691169d ago (Edited 1169d ago )

Visually it looks nothing like Onimusha. Gameplay wise, I’m not sure where you’re getting the connection from… like you’re saying because you swing a sword and have advanced abilities it’s a spiritual successor to Onimusha? That’s like saying a game where you shoot a gun and have healing items is like Resident Evil.

Onimusha was initially Resident Evil set in feudal Japan. Sure they decided to make it it’s own IP due to differences similarly to what they did to Devil
May Cry when that was initially RE4.

Is there back tracking and puzzle solving? Do you use red orbs, blue orbs, or yellow orbs to refill health, magic, and level up?

I’d even argue aesthetics is important when making connections to a game series. I don’t see that at all here.

Also, aren’t spiritual successors literally the creation of a game from previous developers that try their best to recreate the game as a new IP without breaching copyright laws? Bloodstained is a good example of a spiritual successor to Castelevania.

I dunno, man. I don’t see the connections at all.

Also, wtf, I have no idea why you replied…

Stanjara1169d ago

I completely agree!!! Sorry but i figured you replied to my post. I said HLDrifter and than I saw - how did I get that conclusion?. My bad.

CrimsonWing691169d ago

Ha, no worries.

I completely agree with you that it looks more like Hyper Light Drifter. I was responding to the editor of the article.
