With gaming technology the way it is now, hyperrealism seems to be the priority and the sports video game genre seems to be at forefront when it comes to achieving as much realism as possible, be it in visuals or gameplay mechanics. In a quest to become as close to the real thing as possible, sports video games started to become too grounded in reality, giving up on the simple pick up and play appeal. Wrestling video games are the biggest offender when it comes to this, as the more realistic entries we've seen in recent times are a huge far cry from the simplistic, fun arcade-style grappling games we saw during the N64 and early PS2 days.
Super Mega Baseball is a really fun, arcadey baseball game. Furthermore, you don’t even need to know the sport in-order to have fun either, and this is the reason why.
I´m not a huge fan of Baseboll, but Super Mega Baseball looks really fun I have to say.
I don´t watch or play Baseball all that much myself. Even so, I still have to admit that I would like to give this one a go.
@TGG_overlord "Correct, because Super Mega Baseball 2 coming in 2017."
Hmm, that makes me wonder. Is it even worth picking up the first game then?
@Simon_the_sorcerer "I think that Super Mega Baseball is the kind of game that could work really well at parties ;)"
Yes, just make sure that you don´t have any actual "real" baseball bats around (the combo of sport games + alcohol + baseball bats = Not good).
Neil writes "Fancy a new game? Don't want to pay for it? Right now you can grab Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings for absolutely nothing."
Neil writes "October. The busiest time of year for new game releases. And this year is no different with a huge number of titles releasing over the next 30 days or so.
So you can't really blame the team back at Xbox HQ for delivering a bevy of Games With Gold titles that really do fail to enthuse many. In fact, whilst the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games given away during September were pretty damn decent, October's free titles will quite possibly go down as one of the worst combination of Games With Gold titles this year."
Where are the fanboys previously calling out PS+ as indie+ etc for many months this year, to complain about Octobers GwG indie line-up? Hypocrites.
Well, it's decent offering. But it's just lackluster this month.
I noticed that when Xbox has a major release like Gears of War, MS releases weaker games on Games with Gold to get you to play Gears. While Sony gives you better games to stop people from playing Gears. Both Sony and MS do this.
No but stop complaining about the monthly courtesy games. Complain about the £40 games with microtransactions.
