Rocket League is a runaway success, and the PS Plus month only increased that popularity.
One of the most fun and biggest surprises of the year. Small teams can make amazing games like this and Cities: Skylines.
I think I've played this almost every day since its release. Indies can craft some great games.
My friend was going on about it all year, told me to sign up for the beta (he's played the first one religiously on ps3) and i was like, hate cars, hate sports, no thanks. He went on the day of release, all set to buy it having NO idea it was part of the PS plus free games. He rang me straight away and said "DICKFUCK, DOWNLOAD IT NOW, ITS FREE!". I do not regret it for one second, one of the most fun multiplayer games i've played in a long time. Been playing couch splitscreen, online, LAN partying it up, you name it. Havent had this much social fun and interaction on a console game in a looong time (thanks to stupid publishers trying to force online only multiplayer and slowly removing LAN options from their games, this industry sometimes i swear to god >:( ) Hosting another Rocket League Lan Party at the end of the month, can't wait! Especially since Apache Pizza do any pizza any size for 9.99, you can never go wrong! Takes me back to the good old days of 90s/00s lan fiestas. here's the best save I've made so far myself https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Those goal line saves are the best. I think this was probably the best goal I've scored so far, and it all came from good defensive positioning: https://gfycat.com/AbleClea... I've been converting all of my friends to the Church of Rocket League since launch too. I think there's around 9 or 10 of us that all play now. It's just got that perfect blend of team sports and flawless design that makes it hopelessly addictive. To put it in perspective, I don't think think I've sunk 60 hours into a game as quickly as Rocket League since I started playing Team Fortress 2 back in 2007.
I've actually witnessed friends storming out of party chat because we'd already filled up the 8 slots required for 4v4 XD That was a nice goal, gotta love setting yourself up for it. The way you hit it with the underside was hilarious. I also love when its a tie and the timer hits zero but the ball is still in the air and somehow you manage to get it to goal. It's only happeend to me twice but even when it happens for theo ther team I'm amazed. It's one of the few games were losing is still incredible. All thats needed now is steam integration on the console end of things (like with portal 2 on ps3) so we can actually team up with pc people instead of just randomly coming across them. I have 3 friends who play this on pc and I only get to play with them when they pop around for a visit and we play online via splitscreen.
It's what happens when suits don't get involved. Kind of how it should be though.
