I've aways wondered why do people make this kind of things...

I mean, are there really guys not working nor studying that one day they suddenly go "Oh ok, let me spend several hours doing this scene for no game, no money, no nothing, but I'll do it anyway..."

These kind of things must be masked marketing, if not, what else?

Challange yourself and having fun, and to make people aware of what you do and what you can do.

It's called passion. It's what they love to do. Not everything has to earn you money. Believe me, many ppl look at us and wonder why we spend 1000's of hrs as an avatar online...earning no money.

At least w/ this, someone may see his work. Or maybe he goes to school and this is gonna be what he does do. I have tons of art that I've never been paid for.

You can demonstrate your abilities and may get hired. It count towards your art portfolio. Also, fun.

As much as I love video games admittedly I think they are a bit of a waste of time, doing something like a fan recreation of something be it a painting, a piece of music or a 3D scene is very rewarding and once its finished you have something to show for the time you spent.

Creating things is fun (imo anyway). Think about sites like DeviantArt, they exist to help artists sell pieces sure, but most of the content there is to showcase the artists' hard work and skill.

I wish we could see the next evoLuton of cryengine. I am primarily a console gamer, and I think Crysis died coming to consoles.

I know they are having financial problems, but I'd love to see a new cryengine destroy the new tech we have now!

Crytek needed to expand to consoles to survive. Selling an engine (and that was the purpose of the Crysis game) that could only work on PC when everyone else was offering a multiport engine would have also killed the company.

I am not arguing the viability of PC games. If I felt that way I wouldn't be looking at the Oculus DK2 laying on my desk right now. I am strictly talking about engine technologies as regards profits from licensing. For Crytek to have offered a PC only engine going up against the likes of companies such as Epic who offer a multiplatform game engine would have been suicide. And to prove the engine worked well on consoles they had to move their main advertisement - Crysis - to consoles.

It doesn't help that they kept insisting on a million dollar license for everyone when Mark Rein was looking at individual projects and adjusting the Unreal license based on prospective profits and game size.

Aspyr if we sell hotcakes get that code from radical or something and create battlefield 3 please

DarkkMinion215d ago

Hope more developers do this.

I thought that was kind of obvious they were incorporating mods to piece this game together. Maybe not, but that's made me worried about one thing:

They also planned on adding the modded ending to KOTOR 2 but were legally blocked from doing so, even after they advertised that to help sell preorders for the game on Switch. Could the same happen with this? Any opponents have 3 weeks to bring down the hammer.

Wish these games would just get remakes.
