The Future for the Resident Evil Series

They already Split Resident Evil 2 Series.
Main Number Series - Actions Focus .
Revelation Series - Survivor - Horror Focus.

Remake,0 Remaster and RE 2 Make are Fanservice Project.

_-EDMIX-_3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

The words....you took them out of my mouth! Can you please do some articles as many who do articles on here don't actually know or even look up info on the company and its public stance on the series!

Its already confirmed that the series will be split from action to horror.

"Lately, most of the news regarding the series revolves around re-releases and remakes. When a new Resident Evil game (presumably RE: 7) comes out, who is it meant to be played by? If the remakes and re-releases are capitalizing on their horror element with the hope of bringing in new fans"

....well thats because lately those are easier and faster to make then RE7, RE7 has been in development longer then any of the titles they've released recently.

I mean...did RE2002 and RE2, and RE3 AND RE VC not release for Gamecube? Yet RE Outbreak 1, 2, Dead Aim, RE Zero, RE4 etc still released. That has little dawning on what they are working on.

That doesn't mean nothing is happening, that doesn't mean focus is else where, they confirmed the series is split from horror to action and if this author actually read anything regarding the company and its directors...they would know its been split.

Revelations and those remakes are for horror fans....RE7 are for action fans.

gantarat3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

after RE 6 i don't think capcom tried to make everyone happy again (action fan, horror fan)
RE 6 have a lot of good ideas but with poor execution.

fitfox3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

Capcoms prolly hard at work on there last of us clone, aka RE7.

fitfox3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

Yeah better that than COD or gears of war,I greatly enjoyed Revelations 2 :)

Barnaby-Jones3176d ago

I want Capcom to restart the series after doing RE 2&3 remake. They should create a different RE 4 with the original RE gameplay. Though RE 4 was initially cool, it resulted in the franchise straying too far from the classic formula.

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos38d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts38d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook737d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka37d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka38d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz38d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos37d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1738d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca38d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.

The art of difficulty: What’s the best way to make games harder?

There are many ways that a game developer can choose to raise the difficulty in their games — but which ways are the most effective?

A great example on how to do difficulty in a video game is DOOM ETERNAL. Started playing on ULTRA VIOLENCE but then I started playing on NIGHTMARE after a couple hundred hours of playing on UV . What makes DOOM ETERNAL fun, is on Nightmare, the enemies are very aggressive ,but they give you the tools to defeat difficult enemies , you just have to learn how to use them .

FinalFantasyFanatic39d ago

Doom Eternal was so tough, but it felt so amazing to finish that game, even when the enemy feels unfair and gang up/box up into a corner.

Nacho_Z40d ago

Personal dislikes are bullet sponges and bosses with regular enemies thrown in. Just make the boss hit harder if it's too easy.

thorstein40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

I think Helldivers 2 really gets it right. If enemies are easy, they swarm. If they're high level, they tend to have good defense and need strategems to take down...or bait.

I never feel too angry if I die by swarm because it is usually my fault for not checking my 6. I don't even mind dying if a teammate drops a bomb on the swarm that is gutting me.

I don't like cheap deaths. When the game allows you to progress only to hit you with an enemy that is suddenly immune to all the things you've unlocked and mastered is just dumb. If the game doesn't do hit boxes right and you get killed in lame ways it is dumb.

The screenshot is from Elden Ring, a game I really enjoyed, but the scaling was silly. I didn't do the Eligtree til late game so it was goofy difficult. I thought the Elden Beast was rather cheap. Not a fun skill based match, but just cheap enemy. There was no sense of, "oh it defeated me because I did this or I did that" like all Souls/Borne games.

Crows9040d ago

Don't handhold. There you go. every game is immediately harder and more rewarding.

DarXyde40d ago

1. Intelligent opponents that don't have some set, optional strategy to win and requires more critical thinking.

2. Game provides players with the knowledge and tools about a game world to stand a chance (or at the very least, the opportunity to gain the knowledge and tools).

3. Don't insist on enemies having much more health than the player arbitrarily. Sometimes, you'll have more durable enemies who are armored or inhuman which I would say is fair. The best approach to this I can recall in recent memory is Naughty Dog games: You're extremely vulnerable without armor and can get picked off pretty easily, but your enemies are pretty beatable with the right weapons and strategies where you can't just brute force it. That said, ammo is in short supply, so you engage at your own risk.

4. Depending on the type of games, make resources more scarce without necessarily making enemies bullet sponges. It simply means you'll have to choose your battles carefully and have damn good aim. Like Uncharted. If you're not good at headshots, Crushing is a rough time.
