Lots of people seem to be digging Splatoon. Thinking of picking up a Wii U just for this and Mario Maker.

Metallox1628d ago

Just for those? I'd suggest you to dig even more, despite of my ignorance of your tastes.

Well, Mario Kart 8 absolutely blows away all the other Mario Karts. I wasn't too excited for it but it's been my stand out Wii U game. Smash is good, as always, not a huge step over previous iterations, but the amount of content is absolutely incredible. Those two are must owns.

Super Mario 3D World is pretty fantastic, Nintendoland is a must if you have friends that come over to play games, Wonderful 101 is pretty good, Bayonetta 2 is a must own if you're a fan of action games, Donkey Kong Country Tropical freeze is a good pick for old-school platforming fans, Lego City is a really good game if you're into collecting every last thing, Pikmin 3's pretty great if you're a fan of strategy games. It all depends on taste, really, but most people won't have to look far to find more than a couple Wii U games that'd tickle their fancy. Even a lot of the low profile titles are pleasantly surprising.

Hah, not just those two of course. But seeing the buzz/positivity around them helps! Bayonetta 2 is another game I eventually want to play.

I've had it since launch and I'm still working on earning stuff.
It's an incredibly challenging game.
And if you really want to have fun with it, get into playing Tag Climax mode.
If you're lucky, you'll run into someone that pulls off combos you've never even seen before, much less heard of.
Recently I ran into a player with a Japanese name, and the moment the match started, he took the chainsaw blades and whip for his feet, and quite literally kept two or three enemies combo locked all on his own.

It was impressive and really fun to watch.
I didn't even mind losing those matches because they served as great references for what's possible.

If you love action games, then this is, IMO, the cream of the crop.
Everything great in games like God of War and Devil May Cry, is made even better in Bayonetta 2.

People say it's a niche game, but if more people gave it a fair shot then it wouldn't stay niche for long.

Still need to pick up Splatoon! Let's GO!!

...and Super Mario Maker, after watching a ton of looks incredible. System seller if I've ever seen one. Completely encapsulates what the Wii U was built for.

Nice to see Wi U game sales rebounding as it ages.

Aaaand I just got level 20, ladies and gentlemen :D Took me only two months :D Game is still as fresh as when it was released.

So it seems that only Wii U software sales can spike but not hardware sales. Not even Splatoon could boost Wii U sales. Seems like its up to Super Mario Maker to pick up the slack.

That's the result of the console war soldiers not giving a system the credit it deserves for the quality of its games, even if the quantity isn't the same thanks to third parties giving up after making a mess of their own multiplat ports...
