As accurate as it might be, there can’t be many game descriptions less appealing than a ‘walking simulator’. But over the last few years it’s become a clearly defined sub-genre, and in large part thanks to 2012 indie game Dear Esther – to which this is a spiritual sequel. Since then we’ve had genuine classics such as Gone Home and The Stanley Parable, that have been responsible for some of gaming’s most inspired storytelling. But Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture doesn’t quite scale those same heights.
