Dropped in the middle of the wilderness with only the clothes on your back and some bare bones supplies, you must try to survive as long as possible. The end. At least as far as the current Alpha of the game is concerned. You must scavenge for supplies, find shelter, and keep yourself healthy. There is no end to the sandbox mode, just constantly dropping temperatures and dwindling supplies. It's awesome."

That's according to a new developer diary in which Hinterland Studio reflects on the last eight years of development, as well as teasing what may be coming next, including a premium season pass to ensure the game "continues to be financially self-sustaining"."
