343's Frank O'Connor reacts on the latest Gamescom Halo 5 performance test from Digital Foundry.
I wonder what the final resolution will be.
I'm guessing 900p/60fps which will be perfect as framerate is key.
It is dynamic at the moment, and will probably stay that way unless they can hit the 1080p console ceiling. Digital Foundry suggest the current implementation of scaling is working well.
Agreed, iam thinking native 1080p 30fps for cutscenes then 900p 60fps for game play! I think its awesome looking as is, the beta looked great and ran well and that was 720p 60fps upscalled to 1080p 60fps. The full game will also scale up to 1080p 60fps during game play like all 360/and some x1 games so i dont see any issue. They may go the advanced warfare on x1 route to limit scaling artifacts. Fact is after playing halo 1 to 4 at 1080p 60fps (mostly) on x1 u just cant go back to 30fps! whenever i play halo mcc then switch to destiny (allthough destiny is by far the best implementation of a 30fps shooter ever) it still feels terrible by comparison. I wish more devs would make 60fps a priority! maybe destiny 2 will be 60fps if they leave last gen behind? Either way this fall Halo 5 is my most anticipated fps and will be my go to online shooter till a proper battlefield game is released.
It isnt visually impressive, so might as well be 1080.
You troll too much....didnt we speak about this, the other day, dimitri? You dont own an xbox...you dont play FPS games ( you told me this yourself)...yet you are in every other halo and xbox related article trolling. I think you have issues and need to seek help. This is ALL you do. Its like you have this weird fixation with hating on all things xbox, just for the sake of it. you bring nothing to the discussion. You dont enlighten anybody with any factual information...you just...troll. You used to annoy me but now I just I feel sorry for you.
@ FlexLuger He's a fanboy troll, just like RocketScienceLvlStuff, GameNameFame, Cindy-rella, Walker, and probably more. They have dedicated their spare time to invade articles about platforms they don't even own or have no interest of (especially Xbox), and their wet dream is for Sony to monopolize the industry. They also pray to Sony every morning and every night before bed.
@magicite Isn't there a PS article somewhere to keep you entertained? Why keep coming into xbox articles to troll? Don't you ever get tired of it?and its the same BS comments over and ove again. Its quite pathetic and boring now. @flexluger Well said.
60 fps baby go play the boreder if you want to watch movies instead of playing games lel.
Who cares? It looks AMAZING, and based on recent screenshots it looks like it will be one of the best looking games out there regardless of Res....just keep the FPS solid.
It doesn't seem like they're going for "best looking game out there" this time around, honestly. They've prioritized framerate over visuals/effects. Nothing wrong with that in a competitive multiplayer game, but maybe not what people expect from a new Halo title.
Who cares about the final res how about you wonder how fun and how much depth the game will have smh ppl care about the wrong things now days
Why are they even running these tests on an unfinished game? I haven't seen this for any other games before they release.
They do it with other games. Assassins Creed Unity for example.
Its still broken.
Is is good Mr. O'CONNER stays cool with all those attacks and continue to work on his vision of the game with his team. Some of the comments over at neogaf are just toxic to say the least. This game will be great comes October and I'll be at my man cave playing it.
Halo 5 is coming out October 25 or 27 i think. Now i got both console to enjoy. Don't bring fanboy in here. If you guys look on my profile, it said " My life is simple. Just play video game for fun."
Is it just me or would this mofo look just like Steve Austin if he had a goatee? Anyway, good to know things are running well. They ran well in the beta though. Why is anyone surprised? I can't wait for more. That damn single player is the only part I'm lacking faith in from what I've seen so far.
He looks more like Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins.
I will now save up for an Xbox One
Haven't COD games been running at a solid 60fps for years now?
I think so. But they often look like crap.
Not true - and don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the COD series. I remember COD4:MW both looking AND running 'next gen' at launch. Don't know about the games which came after, I lost interest fast. Also, most first party Nintendo games on the WiiU balance both lush visuals and a flawless 60fps. Really, this whole Halo 5 thing is bluff.
COD multiplayer graphics are always downgraded to accommodate for the frame rate. In general COD graphics have been crap after COD 4, which was maybe good for it's time but was quickly surpassed. The last COD:AW also has great graphics, but looks very bad in multiplayer. On top of that, you get like a 5 square foot space to move in campaign, it has no co-op in the story, it's full of scripted events like a movie, and multiplayer maps are smaller than my bedroom. I don't know if you've played halo games before but they're huge compared to COD. They have easily 3-4 times the amount of NPCs on screen at once, in much MUCH larger environments, WITH vehicles, in GIANT sandboxes. As you can imagine, the resources it takes are a hell of a lot more.
@CantBeStopped '....I sure would hope they could get the game to run at 60fps, its not like its really that graphically demanding. In fact it looks like it could run on 360' Dude, don't be a Jack Ass. No Need. Halo 5 is going to be awesome. But, why is Digital Foundry seen as the Enemy by many? Do they not treat all fanboys equally? PS4 Frame Rates have been shown to be inferior to X1 on certain games, and vice versa. What is the problem with DF....is it because they back up their claims with Data? Does the truth hurt Chronically Insecure Gamer's Suffering with Acute Paranoia? /
I hope this game turns out to be everything xbone gamers want it to be.
with 343 behind I, this game will be everything and more. too many people doubt what they can accomplish.
When are this so called game testing site going to test an actual retail product , instead of trying to create POS from lame betas or show press clips . Stop being a holes. Test the final product then run your mouths .
Frank is the man, I think he and 343i tease these fanboy sites like Digital Foundry, which thrive on the insecure console war kids. At the end of the day, when you need machines to measure pixel counts or FPS, does it really need measuring? Glad Halo 5 is shaping up to be the masterpiece we all knew it would be, and that leaked music is absolutely phenomenal.
GOOD LORD this game looks fantastic. Looks like the 3 month old build already has a better 60fps framerate than most released games going for 60...and this one has more action and particle effects going on. All I know is based on everything I've seen...this Halo looks to be the closest to perfect I have ever seen a game. On EVERY level...it kicks ass. Great gameplay, graphics, co-op, MP, balance, free DLC....just everything is awesome.
I guess those hating split screen are hating the new Doom as well, pity.. both great upcoming games.
Doom doesn't have a history of good split screen, does it?
Doom has a massive history of co-op play since the very 1st Doom games.
I have been a halo fan for years. Often play split screen with buddies. Not having it is disappointing.
I am loving HALO MCC so much playing with my kid with Splitscreen. With Halo 5.. I don't know :(
Ever since Halo 4, Halo looks more and more like Call of Duty every day. Halo is losing it's signature style and going toward something more generic. Hopefully they change some things before this game launches.
Yes. Halo 4 multiplayer was unbearable (with a great singleplayer though) and the Halo 5 beta felt like Advanced Warfare.
It was very much "bearable" to me. Enjoyable, even..
If you enjoy more of a casual shooter and less of a hardcore shooter, then yes it could be bearable. Halo 4 was more Call of Duty and less CounterStrike, ya know?
