Here is a first look at Mafia III gameplay, following the reveal trailer that was shown today.
I'm a huge fan of open world games. It's just, I dunno, I am not feeling it.
Yes, I am really insane for sharing my honest opinion lol
I don't agree with his sentiment, but that doesn't mean he's insane. lol
I think he was speaking figuratively, I don't think Dr PC_60 was writing you up as medically insane, don't worry.
Also not feeling, probably will not buy, don't really feel the protagonist too.
It really doesn't seem like a Mafia game, and will no doubt be SJWfied to hell.
Looks like they took away everything that made mafia special. The classy Era, the mafia and realism are all gone.
LOL Did u guys notice at 2:00 and 2:20 mark where the rear view mirror of the car showing the image of the car crashing in front of your car? That's some magic mirror we got over there! Even when the car chasing you crashed, the mirror automatically focus on the wreck like a tv LOL!
It's "you're insane"
looks awesome and if it's at least half as good as mafia 2 i'll be happy
Is it open world? Mafia 2 wasn't
Yes it was.
Mafia 2 was not even close to open world. It was very linear with little to no exploration.
Wtf are you talking about?! Yes it was! Your picture suits you well.
@Aggesan Open streets for driving =/= Open-world
It was open, but it was not that free to roam around in. Bumnut is right, Mafia was linear. The game was open, but it was an empty shell of linear play.
Well going by what you think is an open world,.. Neither was MAFIA 1,.. but mafia's (at least one ,..) has some of best designed missions ever,.. (It actually shat allover standard GTA)
Can't believe the disagrees, Mafia 2 was not open world. Just because you drive around does not mean its open world. It got lots of flak for being linear when it released EDIT- Thanks Mikey Mike, at least someone backed me up
By the sounds of it you don't even know what open world is. Any game where you have the freedom to move around freely is open world. Even if there is nothing to do in-between missions, it's still open world.
You didn't have the freedom to move around freely
Mafia 2 was a full open world game that told a linear story. What you meant to say was that there wasn't much to do in the open world which is true.
It had Open world, it just wasn't a sandbox like the one in GTA or Just Cause are. It was merely there to give players some room to experience the story. You could however drive around as much as you liked during certain missions/chapters. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/...
I'm not even sure how one defines a game as NOT being open world based on such a thing. Before Fallout 3's patch, when you beat the main game, the game just ended. Soooooo Fallout 3 not open world? LMFAO! Dat logic doe. Open world is...exactly what it means, its an open, larger world. Mafia 2....has a open, larger world.
im not sure why all this hate is popping up. The game looks good - wtf
Come on man, don't be naive. You know why the hate is there. Whenever we get a non pale faced generic protagonist suddenly the game is lacking or whatever crap they use to conceal the fact that they're not "feeling" the vibe of the game. Period point blank. It's sickening.
@thricetold lol I actually JUST found out that the main character being "Half-Black" is the issue. http://www.neogaf.com/forum... 2015....2015 and this is still a problem lol.
They arent feeling it cause the main protagonist isnt white. The dude does look interracial but thats not enough for them.
Oh come on...not all the hate is in regards to the main character...look at the youtube comments on the video, (and here) nearly all the complaints are about the game being too "Saints Row" or "GTA" like...just because a few people say something racist, doesn't make it the main reason why people don't like the game...good god.
Wait, how is it that white people are ALWAYS the racist ones? Lol, because we arent up in arms about how racist this game is towards white people? All I seen was one black dude mass murdering white dudes. But... shall we flip things a bit? Resident Evil 5 maybe? and that was in Africa and they were fucking zombies... articles EVERYWHERE back then. http://www.wsj.com/articles... could post like 100 articles... But, your right, those damn white people, they are the only racist ones in America. NO one else can possibly be any bit of racist, just those damn white people.
@itbourne Good question, how IS it that Caucasians are ALWAYS the racist ones? Your words not mine. Nice deflection btw, it's always someone else's misguided perception isn't it? Nah, everyone is treated equally in merica and merica doesn't have a race issue whatsoever. I bet you believe that too. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. Stop sticking your head in the sand for the love of humanity. @red Do you really expect anyone to come right out and say it? It's called deflection, bash one thing because it's less likely to cause waves. Doesnt take a genius to read between the lines and I never stated that was the only reason, just the main one, imo. When you see comments about how this ISN'T a mafia game I wonder if these folks ever heard of Frank Lucas, a man of color who rose to be more powerful than any of his Italian counterparts.
I Just find it funny how people still beleive we live in a world of equality smh. Some of you have it to easy so you think the world is rainbows and sunshine.
as long as it retains all the aspects that made mafia 1 and 2 so special, Im in!
when the commentary started, I thought I had clicked on the wrong video.
@Sennacherib I can totally understand how you feel about this game. I am on the other hand very excited for it, but could care less about MGS5 and MGS2 was one of my favorite games of all time. Mafia 2 was a stiff sort of game and I enjoyed the limitations it had, but the level of detail was epic, and I seem to get the same vibe here.
It looks interesting to me just cause we need a black protagonist in games and there's a lot of genric Caucasian protagonist in a lot of games and I feel like this game focuses on race issues as well which just makes this game a whole lot more interesting to me compared to others.
* Won't be buying it for $60, but it does look decent.
My only issue was how explosive cars were. Otherwise looks like a game with some potential.
You guys are elitists. Plain and simple. There have always been more than just the 'sicilian mafia!!' In this mafia...we will be playing as the black mob, and will be going after the italians. I think it's an awesome change of pace! To the retards comparing it to 5 other games...just stop. Stop trying to find something wrong with every game that comes out. You're the reason developers don't make great games anymore. The internet has given morons a voice, and then they try to please EVERYBODY, just to find out they can't. Stop judging games off their FIRST 3 minute trailers. It's a year too early for all that crap. *EDIT* Also, If you watch the video closely...you see some emblem pop up by the cars fenders? Is that why they are exploding? Maybe its an upgrade for your car that makes it more powerful or something? Could be completely wrong, but I think they're going to fix that up and make it more realistic. Was probably just to showcase how good the fire looks, and make it more dramatic for the reveal.
Hmm... I was excited when I saw the CG announcement trailer. When I saw the gameplay, it looks alright but I couldn't understand anything because I don't speak German. After all this time of wait, am I just as excited when I heard that Mafia 2 was coming after the First mafia game? No not really. I love the Mafia series, I still look forward to seeing what M3 has in store for us.
I don't see any Mafia atmosphere in that gameplay, just cadillacs and exploding cadillacs oh and a eye stab lol.
It's looks like a shitty tarintino movie which I really really hate. Compared to the past ones being scorcese movies.
It's the black mafia from late 60s New Orleans. It's just not the Cosa Nostra mafia that you're used to.
Looks very different to previous game, but thats okay. I have faith this will be a great game.
cut down on the explosions, and we're in business, I'm already curious about the story.
all I can think of is the Terry Crews old spice advert "EXPLOSIOOOOON" It does look way over the top though.
I love Mafia games but honestly this doesn't look impressive.
I think it looks ok but most of all it doesn't look like a Mafia game.. That's the real problem in my opinion.
Yep, it looks ok but not what I was expecting, it shoud be called Ballas instead of Mafia
I loved the original. I don't know why but I didnt feel the sequel as much. And this, doesnt resemble anything 'Mafia-esque'. I'll have to wait and see.
I got to agree. I'm very, very worried. I feel it might be a bad game. The car rolling over on fire got annoying along the video lol I need to see a bit more, but I have a feeling that it might be a bad title. This team didn't do Mafia 2.
looks okay to me, i just need a compelling story
WTF is that shit???
This looks great to me. I can't wait
Anyone else bummed it didn't continue from mafia II or at least put some closure in that story?
It probably will give some closure to Mafia II considering that you can see an old Vito Scaletta at the end of the Mafia III trailer.
Well Vito from Mafia 2 is one of the main characters so dont write it off yet
Your looking for "closure in the story" from a trailer...?! You can only fully judge when you played the full game.
You don't think he means that Mafia III doesn't seem to be a direct sequel to Mafia II story wise?
Looking forward to it. But is this guy going after the Italian Mafia? Or is he in another mob trying to eradicate a rival mob?
Judging by the lightning bolts over enemies heads they're rival groups, perhaps the Italian mafia got shut down heavily, the bosses eliminated, or imprisoned and isolated, and its now up to the new protagonist to keep things alive, or even start his new gang as we see an African American woman, someone I wouldn't expect to be in the Italian mafia.
Meh got to see more. Those explosions are just ridiculous.
That really bothers me too. 2015 and they can't be arsed to put in realistic phsyx effects for car crashes. Looks like a sneeze will blow up any car in this game. I was looking forward to play as Vito purely because of where the story left off in Mafia 2. Im good with the new lead so long as loose story threads get tied up.
Is this Mafia 3 or Just Cause ? lol The cars are exploding here for no reason. Heck, even Just Cause 3 doesn't have cars which explode like that.
Open world games is my love. And yes part two was open just small.
Exactly, you had multiple activities that didn't take you further into the story, it was fun to mess around, drive beautiful cars real fast (dat underground tunnel jump!), listen to the great music and occasionally go on a massacre as if Vitos flaring Italian temper just snapped :D
everything seem to blow up so easily
Hmmm...I honestly don't know what to think about the gameplay. I wasn't impressed, also is it me or did it seem the car that was being driven in the demo was totally out of place compared to the other cars during the gameplay (year, make and model wise).
This looks awesome. I love the details. Melee combat looks brutal. I do agree though, that the "Mafia" part seems kind of lost, but so far I like what I see.
All I hear from the guy was FUHRER
