Among the myriad of multiplayer survival crafting whatchamahaveyou video games that have flooded the market in recent years, one of the latest is Better Late Than Dead by Odin Game Studio.
Emily at GameSpew writes: "In a world where survival games are blurring together, Better Late Than DEAD decides to try its hand at carving its own path. There are good things and there are bad things, but I’ve kept my mind open to the fact it’s still early days for this game.
I hadn’t even heard of this game before coming to review it. The main brunt of information I had about it was its game trailer and sometimes that’s the way I like it; with no expectations you can’t be too disappointed – or so I thought. The trailer starts with a sweep of the surrounding island in all of its desolate glory; from broken houses to azure water, we understand quickly that this island wasn’t always abandoned but the question here is: where did everyone go? As soon as the game begins, however, we figure that out when facing all of the fly-ridden body bags scattering the island. Delicious."
Described as an open-world sand box game, Better Late Than DEAD throws you straight into an unusual scenario and tells you to survive. Going solo or with a friend you must fight for your life against bears, wolves and even your own bodily functions all while trying to uncover the mysterious storyline that makes you question are you really alone?
Nice to see a survival game with story elements, gives an extra reason to keep going. It does look like the game needs something more to help it stand out from the crowd, but with a solid dev team, perhaps they will implement this in the future.
Dying Light is not the first one and far from the best so dont get how this game is "jumping on the Dying Light bandwagon".
The latest PC UK retail, Steam Digital and Green Man Gaming charts have been revealed and as we can see, The Sims 4, Rocket League and Better Late Than DEAD are this week’s best selling games in UK, on Steam and on GMG.
