Microsoft wants to create a seamless ecosystem with all of their devices with Windows 10. A few issues with the way it handles account management, however, could seriously derail some plans.
Windows 10... YAWN! Will wait a month or two for some of the bugs to get squashed.
Same. People who are installing Windows 10 at launch must have balls of steel, or the desire to have something shiny and new is overriding common sense? They're definitely brave, that's for sure. Still, if it goes smoothly then good for them, but I can't bring myself to risk any issues so early in the life of the OS. I'll be waiting to see what the state of it is at the end of the year.
I did my gaming PC, my work PC, and my phone about 4 months ago. I've got vibranium balls and an uncommon lack of sense. The phone was a disaster though lol.
It has been in beta for a while now everything seems to be working fine for me. Not sure on when the spartan/edge browser will get its extension support though.
multiboot setup. If Win10 isn't stable enough, I'll just boot my Win8 partition until there's some updates, but as of now it's working just fine.
I just cloned my os drive rather than do the dual boot in case of Win 10 issues, still waiting for my upgrade though (cba to force it manually :D)
@Lon3wolf that's a great idea. Do you know if your win7 license is still supported? Also what's cba?
I haven't installed it on my desktop yet, but have on my laptop. Much, much better than 8.1. No issues yet.
I have a backup image pre-install so I don't worry about trying it. It's working very well for me in everything I've done so far so I installed it on my laptop as well. It's better than 8.1 if that's what you're stuck with. And I'd say probably better than 7.
And that's why I'm waiting a few months before I upgrade to Windows 10.
If referring to the article Not sure if really a windows 10 issue (edit:existing issue from 2011?) but more about account-management thing of their outlook/hotmail/live accounts. Currently you can still change/ad other accounts to your device or your mail applications in windows 10. He isn't able to migrate his xbox gamer tag to another account due to some issues mentioned in article. My own old hotmail account with my gamertag luckily did transfer after I changed that to my main account a few years ago. Having one single account for the device and over all the different windows 10 apps does make it a more seemless experience.
I didn't have a problem signing into XBL...
Wow, lazy gamer indeed
No problems for me signed straight in and streamed my Xbox
This is such a flaim bait. I Installed Windows 10 yesterday on my main gaming PC, and logged in with my microsoft account (at which my xbox live is connected to) and then all I had to do after driver installs is click on the xbox logo. I was able to stream my XboxOne to my TV in my office from my living room. All I used was a HDMI from my PC to my TV. IT was so seamless I was expecting it to be like OnLive which was just useless. I am not the biggest Microsoft supporter I have my issues with my XboxOne and the damn UI, but they did a great job with Windows 10. I ran a few benchmarks my i7 4770k and 980ti scored all most 1000 more points in 3D mark 11 with no other changes such as overclocking or anything all default values. Good job Redmond.
No problem here. two click job.
No problems here either. Windows 10 has been a champ for me so far. Everything was compatible except Intel XTU for overclocking outside the BIOS .
From the article: "you’re hardly going to keep the first email address you created when you feverishly setup Xbox Live for the first time" So basically he hastily created a gamertag attached to a dummy email, and now he blames Microsoft for his own mistake.
Hmmm it was pretty effortless for me and its working like a charm. Installed on both my laptop and main PC the Xbox app is working great. Sometimes I wonder about these articles and how quickly people jump to create them. I guess it comes down to individual experience some people are going to have problems. I just happened to have none.
Gamertag is linked with all purchases, all transactions, all free stuff offered..........everything that you do digitally has a link to that email. I realised this when i first got my windows phone three years back (xbox'ing since 2004). I was able to migrate everything into one account easily and now i have all my stuff there. Can view achievements on phone, type msgs using smartglass etc etc If the case was other way round where it was easy to loose one account with linked transactions, then today there would have been alot of people supporting this article 1000 times over. Its easy to say something against MS for your mistake but what MS did is save all those transactions on your dummy account which might take a day or month to get that stuff back as it should be with proper authentications. I can tell you guys, this non-sense is going to come again and again when windows 10 for tablet and phone is out later.
I don't game on Xbox but I have a surface 3 and already upgraded to Windows 10 and is working fine. I like 10 better than 8.1
