For the month of August, Xbox Live Gold members will receive four new free games – two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360 – as part of the Games with Gold program.
Nice to see Ground Zeros this month. Can get used to the controls, gameplay, and more before getting the full game in September. Still don't know what platform I'm getting it for. All 3 are possible since the red MGS 5 PS4 bundle might come to the states.
Yeah you're gonna need to learn those controls, some of them are kinda awkward.
Easy... PC @Uptownsoul WTF was that comment about??? This game was free on PS+ months ago.
i guess you didnt understand his "joke"
Yea people were saying how stupid and Lol Sony fans were for being happy abotu this game being free and that it was another solid one for PS+, That said that was uncalled for by him and only further divides everyone so it was just stupid.
@the_dark After reading more comments below I do now. He speaks the truth.
http://n4g.com/news/1732341... I saw more people upset that they paid for a demo only to have it be free later. Not really seeing the "lol Sony fans" or whatever uptown was saying. This is a really good month especially if you never played Metro.
great content and could we all please stop hating Xbox or ps4. both ms and Sony are pushing each other and that is providing us with get software ms is the reason we have a service like psn, but than Sony went a step forward by offering free games. Ms followed so in a way both companies have helped each other ms had a bad start with xbox one but if it wasn't Sony we would be stuck with a drm system. Sony Made controller improvements because people like xbox360's controller both Sony and Ms pushed each other and fought for consumer dollars and time, look at the last black Friday bundles. because they are having to compete with each other we saw bundles with 4 or 5 games with the consoles so if for once can we stop hating on each other. even yu shida checked out ms's hollow stuff and really praised it. Phil spencer always gives shout outs to ps4 developers so when the 2 companies competing are fine with each other. why are we fighting and arguing Over who is better at least that's my 2 cents on this issue.
Well said. Competition breeds innovation and, most importantly, companies feeling the need to cater more and more to the consumer. There's no denying that.
This post needs to be embedded onto N4G permanently.
That's my trouble too, what system to get it for.
OMG YESSS METRO ill finaly get to play that game!
Wow,those are pretty good games for this month.I think MS is upping their game for the holiday season.Let's see how Sony matches GWG line up next month.
MS had great games "last" (since you said this, but for July) was damn good too. MS really stepped up the plate and delivering quality content now.
Ground Zeroes and the two Metro games were already PS+ games in the past.
Only metro last light, metro 2033 wasn't released on ps3
Who gives a crap, did it have Assassin's creed 4? And since when did it become a matchup competition. Each company makes separate decisions and has to make separate deals, you know that right?
Good content is good content. Good content isn't affected by a game releasing on a competing platform. Just be glad you can enjoy it as well on your platform instead of sh!tting all over ours and then leaving.
Already got Ground Zeroes on sale for 10 ):
I feel ya I did as well. Oh well still get Metro Last Light which I havent played yet. Hope it is backwards compatible.
Paid too much.
They had it for $5 even last Steam sale. At that price, I took the plunge.
Yeah got it on sale for 8 bucks a few months before it came to plus but oh well. As mediocre as it was at least I didn't pay the 40 bucks or whatever the original cost was.
Yea, I think it released at 40 or 50. Would a been reaaally pissed buyin at that price.
i see what you did there. or was that a coincidence?
Probably just a coliquidence. 😏
I agree. The two Metro games definitely worth owning. I hope Microsoft keeps it up. They need to start including some of their 1st party exclusive games. That would be nice.
Shoulda freakin waited
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Good games, solid month. I have them but that doesn't detract.
Brilliant. Wanted to play MGS before TPP came out. Not had time to play alot of games lately, so I didn't see the point in buying new ones for a bit. Never played How to survive. Wanted to get it on the 360 at release, but had such a huge backlog.
Wow, great month for GWG! I already have Metro: Redux for Xbox One(and it is a must-buy if you are an Xbox One/PS4 owner who never played those games). I knew I was right to hold off on purchasing Ground Zeroes, I'll definitely need to pick that up when it becomes available.
My friend was telling me about Metro Redux on Xbox One ans how amazing it is. The only FPS i really ever play is Halo but i was told that i will enjoy Metro: Redux.
Both games are really great old skool fps experiences. I just wish the voice actors didn't have such a thick fake Russian accent which to me was a real immersion breaker at times (Ubisoft and its French speaking cast comes to mind as another big offender).
You will. It is a very different FPS experience, very story based and emotional, lots of philosophical ponderings mixed with action and survival horror.
@opoikl Metro is far from what I would consider an old school shooter experience, I must say. Everything about that game is about building immersion. You can say the gameplay even, at times, takes a backseat in exchange for world building. It's fantastic experience (Last Light is my personal favorite shooter), but it simply does not had the feel of Quake and its ilk.
@SlapHappyJesus I'm sorry I didn't specify. With old skool I meant games with a focus on narrative and atmosphere (Half-Life) versus the typical 5 hour shooting galleries of last and current gen. When Quake and Doom stepped into the limelight, I was still getting familiar with Crash Bandicoot and the likes. I didn't even have a PC at my parents house so apart from UT, I missed all those games.
I picked that up on PS4. Haven't got far only just reached the Market or whatever its called but I'm finding it hard to get into. The Russian accents really bug me lol, does it get better? Really want to get into it!
`I own none of the games on the list so August is going to be an amazing month for me. Have to say, great job to Microsoft for the July and August games with gold additions.
You're in for a treat then
I was really hoping for Ryse but I'll take this to prepare for TPP. Already got both of the Metro games on Xbox One too so blah.
Ryse is definitely worth playing. I put it off since the reviews weren't exactly kind and there were better games to play at the time. I picked it up for $20 recently and couldn't be happier.
I must say that Ryse was not worth it at $60 when it was released. However, I picked it up for around $15 and it's a good game for that value. Worth playing for sure.
Ryse is worth it, if it's FREE!
Ryse ended up far better than I was expecting. People harped on the quick-time events but, the way they were implemented, I felt they complimented the gameplay rather well. It was not much of a proper spectacle fighter, but it did what it set out to do, and handled it nicely. They story was weak, but the atmosphere and set pieces were stellar. It just had that epic feel to it that made the experience something worthwhile. Was sent a copy, Crytek themselves, to cover when the PC version released. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Not worth the initial retail price, no. Probably not even worth the original, lower cost of the PC release. But, for $20, it's definitely worth the try for those interested. For free . . . dive in.
That is an excellent selection for August. I have not played any of the Metro games so I'm going to have to grab these when they release for my slim.
Hope these two games will be BC as well down the road even though the HD remaster is out.
Same, I will start playing and If I like it will buy the remasters.
Ground Zeroes is pretty good. :)
@Disagrees I never said it was worth the launch price but the demo is quite good.
I don't think people disagree with your statement. They disagree with you.
@Team_Litt I didn't say anything wrong with my comment though. I just said that Ground Zeroes is pretty good. I disagree with them charging so much for it in the beginning but believe it's a great addition to games with gold. If people have a problem with me they should just respond instead of hiding behind disagrees.
Some great games there.
Both metro games are great... and if you haven't you should check out the developer... they literally smuggled equipment into a war-torn country so they could make it.
Ukraine isn't war-torn, only the small part bordering Russia is AND these games were out in 2010/2011.
Metro 2033 came out in 2010.... Metro: Last Light came out in 2013... I'm just telling you what I read... they had to sneak in there equipment... here's an article... not the original one I saw a few years ago but it's good enough http://www.gamepolitics.com... war torn or not.. these guys risked a bunch of shit to make these games...
Ground Zeros should have been free when it was released. Feel so sorry for people that paid full price for it.
I never bought it because I always had a feeling that it would come to PlayStation Plus. And if it came to PlayStation Plus the chances of it coming to Games with Gold would be pretty high. The same would be true if Games with Gold got it first.
I can just see the August PS+ lineup being filled with indies again
What a douche comment. I had metro on plus like forever ago, we already got ground zeroes. Hundreds and hundreds of great games on plus, why troll.. Edit.. Maybe I am taking your comment the wrong way. If so, my apologies in advance.
-Just because you had Metro earlier doesn't mean everyone else does. -Ground Zeroes being free earlier on PS+ doesn't take away from being free on GWG. I still enjoy games on PS+ from time to time. Its just had a major leaning towards indies over retail games, a sharp contrast from how things happened in 2012 and 2013
Rocket League is more fun than most AAA games anyway. I'd take it over AC4 which you can pick up for $5-$10 if you wanted.
Patiently waiting for the Ps Plus August list now. I have been content with the past two months being Ground Zeroes & Rocket League. Hopefully we get something worth it once again & not indie BS. Hoping for possibly Guilty Gear, Shadowfall, Rayman, etc if not that at least something good on PS3!!
Excellent month.Great choice of games.I traded Ground Zero shortly after it came out. Will be nice to play it again just in time for The Phantom Pain.Never played How to Survive but have thought about buying it a few times.Win Win.Both Metro games were really good.Great job MS.
Eh, i just got ground zero from plus. Not sure what storm warning is but its all there is from my stand point. Anyone know if SW is any good?
