Journey review [Pixel Dynamo]

The re-release of Journey for PS4, like the game itself, is a thing of minimalist beauty. The re-mastered version of the game arrived on the PlayStation Store this past week with little fanfare, a modest $14.99 price tag, and for those who owned the original PS3 digital version, the new version is completely free—a welcome change in a gaming landscape plagued by a glut of over-priced remakes and remasters.

just finished this game x2 on ps4 lol

jasontorfin3616d ago

Did you play it solo, or with another player?

Orbilator3616d ago

I must be at 40 play through on ps3 and 2 on ps4 lol and I still love it

jasontorfin3616d ago

That's amazing. I've played through it many times too and never get tired of it.

NobodyEpic3616d ago

Game is generic imo. Bought it on ps3 and wanted a refund.

Utalkin2me3616d ago

Your one of the very few that thought so then. It has won awards and has been well received by pretty much everybody.

NukaCola3616d ago

Just trolling on each article. This person has never played this game before if they are calling it generic.

jasontorfin3616d ago

Interesting. What was it about the game specifically that you didn't like?

MysticStrummer3616d ago

"Game is generic imo"

"Generic" certainly isn't a word that leaps to mind when I think about Journey. Are you sure you know what it means?

sourav933616d ago (Edited 3616d ago )

Just like your profile pic, your opinion of Journey is fake.

RIP_Weazel3616d ago

Why even bother commenting on a game you haven't got on a console you don't own?

Allsystemgamer3616d ago

I don't think you know what generic is....

You obviously didn't stick with it then... I thought the same thing the first 5 minutes.. By 20 minutes in, I was mesmerized... Course, maybe you're different, which is fine too.. ; )

bmwfanatic3616d ago

Well looks like this will be the highest rated remaster this year. Good job.

whateveryoulike3616d ago

I missed this the first time around. But I have another chance!

We Need More Games Like Journey

Shaz from GL: "The way Journey evokes emotions through its narrative without using traditional storytelling methods is something no game has been able to replicate."

Finding Solace in 'Journey'

BY JOHN: As winter approaches, I find myself searching out "cozy" games that I can play when I need a break from the high-octane action and intense competition found in most modern games.  If you're feeling a little jaded by mini-maps covered in icons and a list of quests and side-quests a mile long, I have the perfect game for you.  A serene masterpiece for those looking for a port in the storm.

That game is Journey.

I always said that MS should have purchased Twisted Pixel way back when they made MS Splosion Man.

Not sure what they have been up to lately, but I loved the humor found in their games.

Vits980d ago

They have been basically a VR studio for the last half a decade or so.

coolbeans980d ago (Edited 980d ago )

But MS actually *DID* purchase them close to Ms. Splosion Man's release. Later, both parties came to a mutual split around the mid-2010s and Twisted Pixel moved their attention to VR.

gangsta_red980d ago

I believe you're right! I vaguely recall a story a while back of them parting ways. I probably left a comment here on N4G way back of how disappointed I was to hear it.

darthv72980d ago

Meta is getting kind of serious about ramping up their gaming division it seems.

crxss980d ago

that's literally every business right now

Christopher979d ago

@crxss: yeah.... The article says that too. But doing this sort of adjustment isn't at all good and especially in the specific arena of Meta's VR teams.

Star51980d ago

Oh they mean business. This should be interesting

Outside_ofthe_Box980d ago

Oh no. We need Microsoft to look at what Meta is aiming to purchase so that they can buy 'em before Meta can so that they can save us from Facebook.

ApocalypseShadow980d ago (Edited 980d ago )

Lol. But in all seriousness. Companies better start looking, or should I say, should have been looking years ago in getting VR developers that are already knowledgeable in VR. I always thought Sony should have been looking at Survios. They can crank out multiple types of games at a decent quality. With help and more time to cook, they could really be a great catch. And not rush things.

Camouflaj did well in working around PS Moves lack of 360 tracking. Shows initiative and creativity. Twisted is a good catch too. Armature did what Capcom is already capable of doing. So, I'm not as impressed with that one.

But it took Facebook long enough. Pushing music DLC and Ready at Dawn not making anything yet for Quest wasn't going to work for long. The race is on and let the competition begin.
