PES 2016 Jumps From 720p to 1080p Thanks to New Xbox One SDK, MGSV May See Similar Results

GameRevolution: "More than four weeks ago gaming website Gamekyo posted information regarding their discussion with Konami's Julien Merceron, a technology director who has spent a great deal of time working on the Fox Engine. Among the details shared was something that seemed almost too good to be true at the time. Merceron stated that due to Microsoft's release of a new Xbox One SDK, Konami development members were able to improve the presentation of this year's Metal Gear Solid and Pro Evolution Soccer releases, jumping from their prior 720p resolution to a staggering 1080p."

Alright then. Sounds like it helped them to optimize

I heard that V is already 1080p on xbox one

Genuine-User3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

It will most probably be around the 900p mark.

Genuine-User3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

I highly doubt that. 900p at 60fps is a safe bet.

Edit: @umair_s51 There's a rational technical explanation. I can provide it to you if you want.

@Rookie_Monster

I did not provide false information. I referenced what NXGamer had said. When he corrected, I did the same.

Have a look people:

I will speak my mind, and I don't care if I'm proven wrong. I'll be glad if MGSV turns out to run at 1080p at 60fps on Xbox One. But I highly doubt it.

Finally, stop lying about and be on your merry way.

Rookie_Monster3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@Genuine-User,

"How on earth can anyone dissect my comment to be that of a troll is beyond me."

Arn't you the same guy that posted false information about Rise of the Tomb Raider being 900p but it was in fact 1080p?

I think you had a history of such thing with these stealthy posts and that is probably why. Also I think MGSV might already be 1080p on XB1 already according to the same person that was being asked in this article and did the same on a month ago about MGSV.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthr...
"great info is that both games, PeS16 and MGSV, on Xbox One will be in 1080p/60fps. We heard that by Julien Merceron, involved in the development of Konami's Fox Engine. Thanks to the new SDK, developers were able to upgrade low resolution textures to high definition ones. Ground Zeroes and Pes 2015 were both 720p resolution on Xbox One."

The bottom line is stop saying 900p in many of these xbox articles as it might come back to bite you in the end. I recommend doing some research before posting next time. :)

@Rookie Monster

I did not provide false information. I referenced what NXGamer had said. When he got corrected, I did the same; and further mentioned he should have pixel counted.

Have a look:

Quit asking me to do some research whilst you're continuously lying and trolling at present and have done so in the past.

I will speak my mind. I'll be glad if MGSV runs at 1080p and 60fps on the Xbox One. But I highly doubt it.

Finally, stop lying about people and be on your merry way.

Letthewookiewin3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Umair- it's not confirmed, I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions over this yet. The title doesn't match what is actually said.

umair_s513614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@Letthewookiewin When did I say it was confirmed mate?
@Genuine-User Do you know it is 900p? Are you in the development team ?

EDIT
@Letthewookiewin I said no such thing, as for your source I will believe you when I see evidence. Till then keep this to your self

gamer93614d ago

Genuine-User what’s with all the X1 hate? You are on all of the pro-X1 articles downplaying anything positive. I hope you’re having fun because all you are doing is making the other side of the gaming nation think you are a complete tool. I for one am sick of seeing your comments and wish you’d go home to PS4 already.

Letthewookiewin3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Umair- Might as well have said it. I'm letting you know that a credible source has not confirmed that it is 1080p on Xbox. When you say you've "heard something" it means you believe it to be true enough to repeat.

Edit: Ya you did. You said it in comment #1.3, that "You heard it was 1080p", but it's ok, the frustration makes things all foggy and that comment was sooooo long ago you forgot. Just buy a PS4, then you won't hate the little black box so much.

donthate3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

It sounds like more and more games are now running 1080p on Xbox One. I don't care as long as it is a stable frame rate at least 30fps.

BUT man, is this a huge improvement. A lot of people doubted DX12, and report after report we keep getting extremely good news.

I think this is emotionally hard for some fanatic gamers. We already see plenty of that above my comment.

flyingwombat333614d ago

Am I the only one who's amazed that it's running at 1080p and 60fps on either system? Sure, it's cross-gen, but not even GTA5 pulled that off on the new systems. I find it a little audacious for anyone to claim "No way they'll get it to 1080p 60fps on Xbox" when I kind of can't believe they're doing that on the PS4. There is not that much of a power difference and the PS4 usually struggles to run games at 1080p 60fps. Hopefully they get it there on the One as well!

GameNameFame3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@Above

I guess 40% is not really a big power difference. /s.

Project Car dev deliberately said they went out and try to optimize on newest SDK update of xbox.

Guess what? Still 900P. And guess what PS4 got even bigger boost than X1. Yea PS4 apparently got optimized too. It just seems that PS4 owners are not that desperate to call some minor update secret sauce. LOL.

and lets not forget about all these other new games with newest SDK update still not being able to hit 1080P.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xb...

Project Car dev even announced. 1080P on X1 early, but couldnt pull it off and resort back to 900P.

flyingwombat333614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@GNF relax, no one is contesting that the ps4 has a significant advantage in the gpu arena, which is why it's had way less trouble running things in 1080p, but 40% is a very arbitrary numeric selection. The Ps4 is a technically superior machine when it comes to running actual games, but I haven't seen anything that convinces me that it's far superior in terms of its core design capabilities. It could be argued that in terms of memory and what the machines can handle in off-screen calculations, they're identical. Ps4 just has a superior GPU which is one of three core tenants in terms of design.

That's not really my point though: I just don't doubt that they May be able to get it working in light of the technical achievements they've already demonstrated. Can you name one other open world game that runs at 60fps on the Ps4? They killed it with this New engine.

EDIT: Full disclosure, I was under an incorrect impression in terms of the ram differences between the machines, I did not know the Xbone was running DDR3 instead of 5, which is a significant difference. The number 40% now seems a little less outlandish although still arbitrary. Sorry, I do not have an Xbone and was under a different understanding in terms of the RAM specs. My core point still stands about MGSV and the Fox engine though.

tuglu_pati3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@GameNameFame

The funny thing is, people always say racing games are less demanding trying to downplay Forza series being 1080p 60FPS, but its the genre that is truly showing the difference in power between this two consoles.

Gazondaily3614d ago

I don't really care for PES but hey, any improvement is good, DX12 or not. Let's hope MGS benefits from this kind of boost.

AndrewLB3614d ago

@Gamenamefame

You guys keep confusing 40% (maximum theoretical) with the real world difference in performance which is much less than 40%.

And I hate to break it to you, but NONE of the games currently available for you to play are running DirectX 12 API. And do you even know what an SDK is?
It's a software development kit provided to developers which has all kinds of tools and resources that help implement an API's features into a game. The level of success in utilizing newer SDK's has a lot to do with it's compatibility with the game engine itself. Many games currently running DX 11 cannot simply be updated to DX12 through the DX12 SDK because shader engines are simply not compatible without major rework of said engine.

Fanboys have had field day on this page. Only Further proving my point that liars can get away with almost anything if it favours the hive mind.

Bubbling up Rookie's comment even after his lie was exposed shows the true nature of fanboys that override most social graces.

I can easily go into Rookie's comment history and shame him in front of everyone, but I won't. I have been falsely accused of worse things by much better people.

@gamer9

There's no hate. I'm a multiplatform gamer, I play where the games are. However, we all have preferences, and so do I.

You're wrong, I don't intentionally go to pro-X1 articles and downplaying stuff. I'm simply voicing my opinion, I'm not here to please fanboys.

I have clearly said that I'm glad with all the upgrades to PES, and hope to see the same for MGSV. However, I do believe MGSV won't go above 900p due to the hardware constrains.

People are too damn sensitive and can't take any criticism. These companies are not feeding your children, you don't owe them anything.

@AndrewLB

"You guys keep confusing 40% (maximum theoretical) with the real world difference in performance which is much less than 40%."

Wait, what? This is a new form of spinning lol

Far too many games that showcase the power difference, it's even more obvious with first party titles:

Batman: Arkham Knight
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition
Mortal Kombat X
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Metro Redux
COD Advanced Warfare
Far Cry 4
Watch Dogs
Battlefield Hardline
Project Cars
Dying Light
Lords of the Fallen
Wolfenstein
Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare
Evolve

Should I go on?

It's my understanding that Ps4 tends to have the higher resolution while xbox holds a more stable and sometime higher framerate

CernaML3614d ago

Then you are not paying enough attention.

PS4 usually has the higher resolution AND better frame rate. Very rarely does the X1 have a better frame rate even at a lower resolution

3614d ago
gfk3423614d ago

@CernaML is right
@shloodbmm3 is wrong

Only 2-3 games perform better on X1, while in the rest of the games:
- in ALL the games (with some minor exceptions) the PS4 version either has a better resolution or better performancd;
- in the majority of the games the PS4 version has better visuals AND better performance (Dying Light, Project cars, F12015, Batman AK etc).

GameNameFame3614d ago

@sbloom.

Wow denial is strong.

lipton1013614d ago

I feel like the difference is neglegable. To the untrained eye they'll look practically the same anyway. If the One is somebody's console of choice, they deserve the same quality as anyone else considering how similar the guts of the consoles are. I take no joy in the whole graphics parity argument between the consoles - I feel it's a null point that's put in the spotlight to drum up clicks and emotions.

@MCTJim

The Wicther 3 news is old and everybody knows that the game DOES NOT, I repeat DOES NOT, run at 1080p while playing only on the title screen and some cutscenes. That's it. Fact!

"Xbox One's curious dynamic resolution also shows no gains in holding a genuine 1080p during open-world travel or combat - it continues to upscale from a lower resolution." (Its the 7th paragraph).
http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Or read the older DF Face-off articles and the technical analyses articles they'll tell you the same thing.

MCTJim3614d ago

yeah, I realize that. My comment and link were just directed at the 720p in the original article the author had written saying it was 720p(the witcher) when in fact it was not. He did indeed correct it, but I could not edit my comment to reflect that he edited his article.

krypt19833614d ago

and who cares because playing the games side by side the diff is negligible and will only be noticed by a hardcore techie or a rabid fanboy who breaks it down frame by frame and is mad because they could only afford one piece of plastic and they have to keep telling proving to their self they bought the right piece of plastic. While the real gamers are playing games and enjoying them ...

dantesparda3614d ago

@krypt

Guy, that came off like some serious angry fanboy tirade. But I own both consoles and still speak facts not fanboy opinions.

Nick_The_Slick3614d ago

Lol. Xbox article brings all the ps4 trolls in. Funny.

pivotplease3613d ago

Can afford them all and I did buy both. That's why I have a PS4 and Wii U.

/s

But seriously Xbox and PS4 are so similar in terms of multiplats and even hardware that I could never justify owning both. I just went where the majority of the exclusives will be by the end of the generation (indie and AAA). Not a fan of games trickling off after 3 or 4 years and that's why I'm upset with this NX situation.

People are really making this much of a deal over a PES going from 720p to 1080p ?!

It's a football game.....It's not a graphics powehouse to begin with.

Sweep143613d ago

Blatant PR stunt here :PES XB1 is 1360x1080 which is barely above 900P. It's not 1920x1080

dantesparda3613d ago

^

Wow, talk about snakes, I hate PR.

Borma3614d ago

Crazy we are past halfway through 2015 and the top story is a game reaching 1080p on Xbone. Does this also mean PS4 already had a DirectX 12 like SDK since the beginning? Both consoles confirmed to be Big Macs with the special sauce.

Christopher3614d ago

My only concern here is that they were at 720p for so long. I'd imagine 900p wouldn't have been any problem to hit.

Congrats on getting to 1080p.

Sweep143613d ago

Except it's not : PES 2016 on XB1 is 1360x1080. That's barely above 900P (1600x900) and is NOT native 1080P (1920x1080) like on PS4. Great PR stunt.

IrishSt0ner3613d ago (Edited 3613d ago )

@Sweep14 - It would be really cool if you looked at links before commenting:

Adam Bhatti: "Xbox One #PES2016 will be 1080p"
yewles1: "You mean FULL 1080p or 1360x1080?"
Adam Bhatti: "1360x1080 is not 1080p."

This story contain several errors:

1. There is no mention of DX12. Meaning that it could have been bumped up simply by optimizing. All the tweet says is
"We got there thankfully, Xbox One #PES2016 will be 1080p"

2. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is NOT 720p on Xbox One.

JonnyBigBoss3614d ago

1. This isn't an error.

2. Simple mistake. Sentence removed. Thanks.

RocketScienceLvlStuf3614d ago

"This isn't an error".

No it's just you making up sh*t.

Aenea3614d ago

Why is 1. not an error? The article only mentions a new Xbox One SDK helped them, is that the DirectX 12 SDK they used? The Tweet doesn't mention any SDK even.

n4rc3614d ago

Well if dx12 is part of the new SDK.. Its not really a stretch to link the two

AngelicIceDiamond3614d ago

Glad to see X1 improving nonetheless. This is only good for all gamers at the end of the day.

Kayant3614d ago

Like Thief framerate was... ;)

rainslacker3614d ago

@n4rc

Think the point is that no SDK was mentioned as being responsible by the dev. It's a reasonable conclusion, as you say, but the author of the article is the one making the assumption this is the reason for this jump.

All the dev said was they got it to 1080p, so a lot of the discussion is based on an assumption which may or may not be true.

I'd also imagine most people didn't read past the headline to even be able to make a reasonable argument anyhow, and just jump straight to "praise be unto DX12 and MS" like these things do.

n4rc3614d ago

fair enough... just saw the SDK mentioned in the article (i did read it!! lol.. but not the sources for it) but guess i wasnt really paying attention to who was making that claim lol

Hold on Eonjay your breaking hearts right now by actually reading the article. I feel another Dx12 Project Cars fiasco coming. Put away your party hats kids. MGS is still 720p till confirmed and it's a completely different animal than a soccer game.

JonnyBigBoss3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Come on 1080p MGSV!

Rookie_Monster3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

this same guy said back in Jun that MGSV is indeed 1080p now. Don't know if that will hold true comes release but it is looking pretty good.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthr...

kaizokuspy3613d ago

I believe it will be 1080p and 60fps for both platforms. I clicked your link rookie, but it just kind of seems everyone there assumes the sdk is dx12 related....maybe it is idk, but they said it allowed them to upgrade low resolution textures, to high resolution ones. Couldn't the achieve that without dx12 in the sdk?

Letthewookiewin3614d ago

Big Boss just get it on PS4 if 1080p means that much to you, then you won't have to post BS titles and grasp at straws.

3614d ago
rainslacker3614d ago

I'd welcome it for every game on every system if possible.:)

christocolus3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Its nice to see more devs optimizing their code and getting more familiar with the hardware. Great job Konami. Hope MGS:TPP follows suit.

HaydenJameSmith3614d ago

Any improvement is a welcome improvement. Hope it runs at the full 1080p 60fps too...

christocolus3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

Agreed. 720p to 1080p is a pretty big improvement and besides Halo 5 basically all 2015 exclusives have been confirmed to run at same 1080p resolution. Gears UE, TR, Forza 6, Fable Legends..also Fallout4 a multiplat game is running at 1080p. Definitely a welcome improvement especially for those worried about res.

HaydenJameSmith3614d ago (Edited 3614d ago )

@Chris

Yes completely agree, I don't know why anyone would disagree with that but this is N4G after all. But yes Fallout 4 and MGS5 (two big multiplats this year) both running at 1080p (one confirmed) on the Xbox One should say a lot about the improvements the console has went true. I think most of us were expecting the first party games to run at full resolution.

TheCommentator3614d ago

The fidelity gap continues to narrow as DX12 gets introduced. (Go figure, since the system was designed around it.) When native DX12 engines are out many people here are going to cry that XB1 is doing even more things that aren't possible. If this idea seems too far fetched to believe based on data sheets or if you still think XB1 is just off the shelf parts, then explain how BC works or how it runs hevc when the others can't!

AngelicIceDiamond3614d ago

These improvements are wonderful. One of the main reason why I want these games to be 1080p on X1 is so we can stop the useless argument. I still don't care either way. But the fighting over pixel superiority is pointless and stupid. We can move to the WAY more important things like making sure these games that are in glorious 1080p, are either, living up to the hype, Have good DLC practice, and actually works at launch.
