Nintendo’s Kensuke Tanabe has explained why he believes that Metroid Prime Federation Force received a negative reaction from fans when it was unveiled during the Nintendo E3 Digital Event. Tanabe says that it is down to the fact that Samus isn’t an actual player in the game. However, he says she will feature in some capacity. Tenable says that he envisioned a backlash happening, but probably not to the degree that Nintendo received. He went on to say that once players get their hands on the game he expects them to be satisfied.
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Now that the series seems to have found its footing again, it’s a good time to revisit one of the most maligned titles Nintendo has ever released and ask the question – Metroid Prime: Federation Force, was it really that bad?"
It's the Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z of Nintendo. Who had this idea in the first place?
Ever just look at a game and go, "who wanted this?" We take a look at 11 ill-conceived Nintendo games that rose that question.
Paper Mario has continued to stray farther and farther from its original RPG roots over the years. These days, the games are much more adventure-focused. The change in genres has been a conscious decision from the development team, but according to producer Kensuke Tanabe, nothing is set in stone when it comes to future titles.
The change in combat is wts dragging this game down. They keep trying to reinvent a new system instead of sticking to the formula everybody likes. The world and story are great, combat is terrible.
I hate that they’re moving away from the RPG element of the game. That’s the whole point of the Paper Mario series. Geezus Nintendo, you already have a “Mario” Mario series, can you just let this be?
Lol they should just give up on the series if they never want to make the decision to go back to its roots. A good story, original unique characters, and the classic turn based rpg is all they need....
Then boom, huge success and praise all around!
I mean come on, they have got to be hearing all the fan outcries. But no. The whole paper mario situation and identity crises has just been so weird after thousand year door, it's rediculous.
If this ever happens, It'll be hilarious to see Nintendo's surprised pikachu face lol.
It's not because Samus is absent (although it is one of the reasons) but the MAIN reason is that everyone has been waiting for a PROPER Metroid game 2D or 3D for years now... and the first Metroid related game you announce is something that couldn't be further from Metroid... No idea how they're not getting this.
How out of touch are you Tanabe?
Oh yeah some players may be satisfied when they get their hands on FF, but not I. It's certainly not the Metroid game I and countless others wanted. So even if FF is a masterpiece, no thank you on my part.
What I want - a Metroid game that follows after Fusion or elsewhere in the timeline, without the "Prime" subtitle. If it is Prime 4, fine but let that be the last and move on.
