Should We Boycott Metal Gear Solid V?

There has been much made of the turbulent situation going on over at Konami concerning their focus on gaming and specifically their relationship with Hideo Kojima, famed developer of the Metal Gear Franchise. A franchise that has been one of the cornerstones of Konami (and arguably the only one that makes money here in the states).

Not a chance am I missing this because of a rift.At the end of the day Kojima will still make games,i will still buy them and I'm pretty sure I will enjoy them.

spacedelete3584d ago

anyone with a inch of respect for Kojima will boycott MGSV. he no longer works there and has got paid for what he has done but no money from what MGSV he will get none of it. if your desperate to play it buy it used. this game needs to flop to send Konami a message we don't give a rats ass about them now.

nX3583d ago

You can still boycott Konami afterwards, I will support Kojima by buying MGS5. If there will ever be another MGS without Kojima I'll gladly pass though.

freshslicepizza3583d ago

i support good games. why people get caught up in all of the drama is beyond me.

spacedelete3583d ago (Edited 3583d ago )

nX afterwards is not good enough. who knows if this is even Konami's last real console game that isn't PES or mobile games.

FullmetalRoyale3583d ago

Fortunately you don't make the rules for how people can feel. I couldn't care less about a damn company. I respect the work that Kojima AND his teams have put into their games. Like I'm just gonna stop enjoying something I enjoy because some guy on the internet says I don't have an inch of respect for the artist if I enjoy his art.

Lol okay.

Mainman3583d ago

@ spacedelete
Everyone with an inch of respect for Kojima would actually NOT boycott this game.

You think Kojima spent countless hours working on the game just so people can boycott it? Kojima would much rather have people enjoying his work.

I'll boycott Konami in other products in which Kojima isn't a part of. Come to think of it, I have being doing this for years now. The only Konami products I seem to have bought were Kojima products.

GordonKnight3583d ago

I really want Nintendo purchase Konami and then tehy could bring back Kojima.

xHeavYx how about you read the article before you report a post?

DxTrixterz3585d ago

No not MGS V but any other Konami game released after.

WitWolfy3584d ago

The'll never release another console game EVER again after MGS V. They're going mobile.. More micro transactions bebe...

sashimi3584d ago

dude they gonna milk MGS, they are already assembling a team to do so. Plus they have new yugioh console game and PES.

WitWolfy3584d ago

Whats with all the disagrees??? Konami announced this like a month ago.

Man_Marmalade3584d ago

At least disagrees don't make you lose bubbles.

twiggytree123584d ago

Nowhere in that article does it state that konami will never release a console game again, Just that they are focusing more toward mobile....

ChristianTheAtheist3583d ago

I'm pretty sure that there's an upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh game by Konami after TPP.

Instead of using that title the author could've easily used "Why we shouldnt boycott MGSV"

By using a clickbait title like that, ppl wont want to give you clicks and just answer the question without reading the article.

RyCamN73585d ago

I posed the question that way because when the news broke that is how I was seeing it presented on multiple boards I'm a part off. I felt it best reflected gamers mindset at the moment.

ehm okeeey.
i guess i get it, but shouldn't be a difficulty setting be the solution and not a skip feature?

StoneTitan25d ago

That is the difficulty setting ^^

Knushwood Butt25d ago

Love the first game but the boss battles were crap, especially the Cliff ones. All Cliff encounters are exactly the same, only in different environments. Furthermore, you have to do the same thing 4 times! No different forms, no different patterns, nothing.

-Foxtrot25d ago

I mean that's a nice thought and all but if you are going to get the sequel to this I'm guessing you are going to be one of those fans who managed to do the boss battles in the original.

I don't think this is going to bring in new fans or ones who didn't like the first one in general.

I understand if it was a brand new story with new characters where you get a clean fresh slate to try and bring in everyone again but a straight up sequel...it has it's fans and I bet they managed to get through the first game no problem.

A weird idea for a sequel to have, since players need to beat the bosses of the first game, unless he plans on making the bosses more complicated this time around which I highly doubt. Honestly it's a horrible feature, for a game about the struggle of going around to deliver things, to let you skip fighting which is a part of the struggle.

Kojima Questions How Long His "Creativty" Will Last

Kojima: At this age, I can’t help but think about how much longer I’ll be able to stay “creative.” I want to keep going for the rest of my life, but is it 10 more years? 20? Every day feels like I’m racing against the clock. Even now, at 87, Ridley Scott is still active. And back when he was past 60—my current stage in life—he created the masterpiece “Gladiator.”

cammers1995113d ago

His games are boring and weird. Nobody cares.

xHeavYx113d ago

@Cammers1995 It's very early, but I think you secured the "N4G's dumbest comment of 2025". Unbelievable thinking that there are people like Obscure commenting here.

Knushwood Butt113d ago

We definitely need a year-end roundup of the dumbest comments.
