Sony Have No First Party Games Left in 2015, But That’s Genius

Adam Cook: "Lost in the haze of all those huge announcements, Sony revealed that Activision are now a partner, with Call of Duty maps coming first to PlayStation. Think back a few short months, and you may recall that Star Wars: Battlefront also appears to have a co-marketing deal with Sony. What about Batman: Arkham Knight? Notice anything about the TV ads for that game? PlayStation 4 has the Red Hood edition, yet more co-marketing between Sony and a third party.

In fact, if you think about it, can you remember many third party games that have gone Xbox recently? No, thought not."

Sony has many games left for 2015, just not the typical dudebro shooters.

Genuine-User1200d ago (Edited 1200d ago )

The title makes little to no sense. Sony are not resting on their laurels.

First, second and third party paints a very different picture.

I hate to do this, but this list needs to be posted every time some one makes a similar argument:

PlayStation retail exclusives for 2015:

The Order 1886
Guilty Gear Xrd
MLB 2015
God of War Remaster
Until Dawn
Tearaway Unfolded
Dragon Quest Heroes
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
Persona 5
Journey: Collectors Edition
The Talos Principle
Disgaea 5
Hot Shots Golf

Xbox retail exclusives for 2015:

Gears of War Ultimate Edition
Forza 6
State Of Decay: Year One Survival Edition
Rare Collection
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Halo 5

GameDev11200d ago

How dare you post a list with facts

We all know the PS4 has no games if it is not big budget AAA holiday release. This is literally the only time people put on their consoles to play games, because our consoles are only functional during the Holiday period and wont also play low budget games too

fermcr1200d ago (Edited 1200d ago )

You clearly don't know the meaning of exclusive. Go look it up. Most of those games on your list are not PS4 exclusive.
One other thing... when BC comes to X1, will you update your list (since X360/PS3/PC apparently don't count)?

What this article is pointing out, is that Sony has no exclusive system sellers for this holiday season and that's why it's relying heavily on 3rd party games. Basically, Sony doesn't need AAA exclusives to sell their console.

Genuine-User1200d ago (Edited 1200d ago )

I do know the meaning of exclusives. lol

What are you trying to say?

Mentioning BC is irrelevant in this context.

Sureshot1200d ago

Technically Rare collection is 30 games...

mikeslemonade1200d ago

All the X1 has is games that I felt I played on 360 and PS3. Those games just look like one step better.

Rookie_Monster1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

I will be hated on for this yet again but as both a PS4 and XB1 owner, I am not going to lie, I'll take the XB1 shorter list over any of those PS4 titles that you had mention with the exception of Bloodborne. But, like I said, it is just my proragative. People make their own choices so if you feel like those PS3 titles are better, more power to you and enjoy but why do you keep making that list of comparing both sides when this article clearly is just about the games on PS4? And this is not the first time you had done this. It can only spark more unnecessary system war debate.

gamer78041199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

You just refuted yourself by making that list... I love my ps4 but all that u listed are remasters, relleased earlier this year or multi platform games. Everyone is speaking to the latter half after e3 the Holiday season is big for sales.

Crimzon1199d ago

If you removed all the multiplatform games from that list of so-called exclusives it would be pathetically small.

showtimefolks1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

Thank you this way rest of us don't have put up a list. This theory that ps4 has no games is stupid, so what if one company holds back all its titles to be released in a 3 months window while the other delivers for 12 months

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE SO 3RD PARTY GAMES DON'T MATTER NOW? THAT'S WHY COD ALWAYS MOVED A LOT OF XBOX consoles with its exclusive marketing and exclusive 30 days of dlc

Logic from fanboys in 2015, just simply amazing.

And how come 3rd party games don't matter when in reality, majority of games released especially AAA come from 3rd party publishers.

For me on ps4 for rest of 2015:

Everyone gone to rapture
until dawn
uncharted trilogy
if no man sky launches than its a buy too

Mgs 5
mad max
just cause 3
fallout 4

And if personal 5 launches in 2015 than its a buy

I already have to play Witcher 3,bloodborne and the order 1886. Also will pick up drive club

So tell me again how ps4 owners don't have games to play. And not to forget some of the 3rd party ga,es will have exclusive content for ps4

I have nothing against Xbox one, I actually like Phil spencer more Than any of sony's executive be does shu yushida

But didn't we have this last generation

And you can check my comments history I am a neutral gamer even though I only own a Ps4 because of limited time, I have nothing against any other console. But seriously man people have to stop this nonsense

So by xbox's logic Sony should delay everything till fall 2016 and it could look like this

The last guardian
god of war 4

But instead Sony Will spread it out instead of foxing all these games in a 3 months window

NatureOfLogic_1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

What about the holidays though?/s

Clearly PS4 will have the better list of games whenever we consider the entire year and not just the last few months of the year. These list show that PS4 deliver a diverse experience with something for everyone while Xbox lineup of games, coming soon this holiday, is the usual Xbox rehash games like Forza, Gears and Halo. Not to mention that PS4 will also have the best third party support and content this fall.

If I had recommend a console this fall, PS4 would be the clear choice and it's not even close.

Septic1199d ago

Yup that X1 list is far more interesting to me than the PS4 one.

Bloodborne is the only one of note for me there.

Forza 6, Rare Collection, Rise of TR and Halo 5 are big titles that I'm excited about. For me, the PS4 hasn't got anything of interest

Each to their own though.

Ezz20131199d ago

I don't know why we keep getting those articles that are always wrong and trying their best to downplay Playstation lineup for 2015.

And Genuine-User, Well done.

AlphaTrion1871199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

Talos is already been rocked to death on pc sir. I have ps4 close frineds that humbly admit that they have no true holiday AAA games. I dont think hate is involved its logic.

The 10th Rider1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

I'd like to see the people that post lists like that post pictures on New year's day proving they purchased at least half of the following:

Guilty Gear Xrd
MLB 2015
Until Dawn
Tearaway Unfolded
Dragon Quest Heroes
Persona 5
Journey: Collectors Edition
The Talos Principle
Disgaea 5
Hot Shots Golf

Bloodbourne is amazing and the Uncharted collection will do well. But honestly the majority of those games won't reach a large audience. I don't even own a PS4 OR XBOXone, but you're kidding yourself if you think those games have as much draw as Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Forza 6. I'ts not the lack of exclusives that is the problem, it's the lack of exclusives with a lot of draw (unless you're into Japanese games, in which case the PS4 easily takes the cake.)

EDIT: If you really want to prove those games have draw, come back here and tell me you've pre-ordered just 5 of those that I listed above...I'd be surprised if more than 1 or 2 people have, if that.

StormSailor1199d ago

But Phil Spencer said the holidays is the only thing that matters. And the Xbox fans do not need exclusive games throughout the year, this is an unnecessary luxury. lol

xHeavYx1199d ago

How am I not surprised?

uth111199d ago

Don't forget the Star Wars exclusive content. How many kids will ask Santa for a PS4/Star Wars Bundle with episode VII coming out this fall? That could move quite a few units.

mark_parch1199d ago

is ori and blind forest not an exclusive?
To be fair theres only one game on ps4 I would get ( bloodbourne ) and 4 games on xbox one I wuld get ( forza 6, rare collection, rise of tomb raider and halo 5 )

1199d ago
Kribwalker1199d ago

That list is wrong on a few levels

Mx/atv is not exclusive
Darksiders 2 remaster is not exclusive
Ultra street fighter 4 is not exclusive as I can buy it for $14.99 on my 360
Ratchet and clank is not coming out this year
gears of war remaster is not on there
And more Xbox games are missing

tmh35931199d ago

@showtimefolks just so you know no mans sky is supposed to be coming out on PC too so really its not an exclusive. Right? Isn't that how that goes?

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

"Technically Rare collection is 30 games..."

Yeah, technically, that's 30 old and remastered games...

miyamoto1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

Its just PS4 going back to its PS1 and PS2 roots that made the PlayStation brand so successful.
if the formula aint broke dont change it.
PlayStation crashed the Nintendo Sega party back in the 90s by arriving with 200 third party developers and games on their belt.
This time its no different for PS4.

I dont like the discrimination these xboxers have for Japanese games. They should know history and heritage of video games. Without Japanese games modern western game will not exist as we know them.

'people were slowly coming to the realisation that Sony have absolutely no games of note left in 2015.'
GOW R in a few days and Until Dawn end of August to start with are not 'no games of note'.
just for the ones Im interested in but there are others.
guess what, instead of reading this kind of idiotic statements people go to shops and can see the games keep popping up on the shelves all year

FlexLuger1200d ago

"Sony has many games left for 2015, just not the typical dudebro shooters.2

And yet it will be a trio of dudebro shooters, in the form of marketing for SW:BF, and DLC for destiny and COD...the very definition of dudebro shooter, that sell PS4s this fall.

freshslicepizza1200d ago

care to tell us what they are with actual confirmed release dates for this year? thanks.

Jayszen1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

Pointless article that rehashes a myth. Now that Xbox is no longer the premium console for 3rd party releases, they don't matter. There are loads of exclsuives yet to be released for Sony this year but according to Xbone trolls these are either "niche" or "not AAA" as if they decide what is.

Last year all Xbox had was the MCC collection and Sunset Overdrive but then remasters were acceptable. Now that the two biggest franchises on Sony have remasters coming, and which will probably work on Day One unlike the Master Chief Collection, remasters don't count.

Now backwards compatibility has become the new 'game-changer' as if there aren't enough new games to play until you stop to think that for the nine months of this year alone, Xbox has had no AAA release and then maybe one can start to understand why the fanboys are happy playing their old games on their new console.

It is amazing that some people buy into such bull and think that if they say it often enough, it will become. As delusional as 'the cloud was going to make the Xbone more powerful than the PS4'.

uth111199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

> as if they decide what is.

That's the key, they don't decide, to listen to them, only AAA exclusives released specifically in Q4 matter, and the ability to play last gen games is the biggest game-changer of a feature ever.

Thing is, they have to take that stance, because their system comes up short in almost every other category, so they make the few victories they get seem like the decisive ones.

we as gamers know what's important to us. We shouldn't complain that some fanboys make illogical arguments and move goalposts- just smile, you don't move goalposts if you are winning, do you?

Rachel_Alucard1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

THIS ^^^^

Even if Sony had AAA exclusives released in holiday 2015, the drones would just go iron wall with such great comments like, "Well I like Xbox games better so automically that means there's nothing on The ps4."

Basically the whole Xbox side of things is like, "I am a huge corporate tool and will let brand loyalty sway me into buying and supporting inferior products just because I've been with them for so long. Also, the few games and wins my supported brand gets will be inflated heavily like when that Canadian leader from south park got the coupons and candy after the country nearly died."

kenshiro1001199d ago

Can't believe there's still that annoying talk about the PS4 having no games. Sounds like 2007 all over again and the naysayers were proven wrong.

freshslicepizza1199d ago

not a bad list thanks, although mostly remasters and japanese games but still not bad. persona 5 looks good, tearaway and until dawn.

RIME is apparently done and No Man's Sky is going to be amazing.... Not to mention a couple of remastered games...

Neonridr1200d ago

Is no Man's Sky confirmed for a 2015 release? I hadn't heard anything concrete yet.

GameDev11200d ago

Nothing concrete but its on IGN First already so pretty much a definite 2015 release. plus Sean murray also seems to be aiming for 2015

I_am_Batman1200d ago

Judging from the recently published 18 minute gameplay video the game looks close to being finished imo. Seems likely that it might come out this year imo.

DigitalRaptor1200d ago

"Have a super happy Christmas and New Year. Here’s to 2015, the year No Man’s Sky comes out :)"

It was confirmed by Sean Murray himself on the PlayStation Blog last Christmas. Now, it could be delayed, but 2015 has been confirmed since last December.

Neonridr1200d ago

@DigitalRaptor - ahh ok.. just based off of their presence at the most recent E3 and their lack of any concrete information, I just as assumed this game would slip into the TBD 2016 window..

uth111199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

I think IGN has exclusive scoop on the release date, and will reveal it soon. It would explain why Sean couldn't reveal it at E3

+ Show (3) more repliesLast reply 1199d ago
Emilio_Estevez1199d ago

During an interview at E3 the devs (Shawn/Sean?), whatever the guys name is, said they were going to announce a release date at E3, but then something happened so they didn't. I'd bet it was something to do with the announcement of simultaneous PC release. No update since then.

yuukiliu1200d ago

Until dawn? Persona 5? UC collection? And many others you seemed to forget.

gokuking1199d ago

Someone should tell Sega that Sony bought Atlus behind their back.

Besides that, I'm not convinced P5 will be out this year in the west.

xHeavYx1199d ago

All of the sudden 3rd party games don't matter? Some fanboy logic is too much to understand.

gokuking1199d ago

@xHeavYx The article's name is "Sony Have No First Party Games Left in 2015, But That’s Genius" so no, third party games don't count here ...

Nikeyg1200d ago

Let's not forget the article is praising Sony for holding back first party stuff, not lambasting them.

Also, first party, as in, made by a Sony subsidiary company. Not a third party exclusive.

Spotie1199d ago

But it's still incorrect.

Fkhalf161199d ago

But there's still
- Tearaway Unfolded
- Shadow of the Beast
- Everybody Gone to the Rapture

set to be released this year. All published my SCE.

kaizokuspy1199d ago

Published but not developed? Not sure on you're titles but SCE can publish games by third party devs.... idk not arguing just saying.

Fkhalf161199d ago

@kaizokuspy only games I know thats developed by SONY 1st Party Studio are Until Dawn and Tearaway Unfolded. Everybody gone to the Rapture is co-developed by The Chinese Room and SCE Santa Monica. RIME and Shadow of the Beast are 2nd Party Games.

kassler1200d ago

There are so many games coming out this fall, it doesn't matter.
