Good to see that both consoles are selling better than their predecessors.

RomanPSX1205d ago

The better both consoles do, the more it can guarantee that we will have more generations of consoles. Great for both!

FriedGoat1204d ago (Edited 1204d ago )

Well, we know one console is selling better than it's predecessor. The other however, has only announced shipped figures.

Concertoine1204d ago

Yeah seems like every gen people are more and more insistent that "this is the last gen". Then they are proven wrong...

The xbone is actually doing pretty well. Everyone acts like it is selling really badly. Its outpacing the 360 which was not only riddled with manufacturing problems but also went on to sell 80 million.

Xbox divisiom might make decent money this gen.

trunkswd1205d ago

Agreed. Sony and Microsoft are both doing pretty well compared to the last generation.

TWB1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

I like to consider the last gen as "dark age" of gaming.

Wii was a casual super success, both consoles were riddled with huge problems (360 was extremely RROD prone while the early PS3s also werent quite as durable consoles as last gen + other issues), people were getting into grey and dark war games which I was absolutely fine with for the first 3 years I owned a PS3 but the market was getting seriously owercrowded by them them and finaly... mobile gaming exploded.

There was also no quality platformers nowhere to be seen except for a few that carried from last gen.

This gen so far seems to be far better and hopefully the sales numbers are also indication of that.

Where are Xbox One sales by now? I'm asking cause I'm assuming that 36 million is at least 25 million units which would mean the Xbox One has only sold 11 million units, a figure I find to be really inaccurate. I say that because Microsoft stated the XOne shipped at 10 million in November 2014. It's been nearly 8 months now since that announcement.

I think the actual sales are more around 40 million. If I had to guess I would say around 25 million PS4s and 15 million Xbox Ones.

Anyway I'm glad both are selling so well.

mkis0071205d ago

They said almost shipped 10 million.

343_Guilty_Spark1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

So you honestly think at best all they've sold is less than or equal to 10 million?

30 mill PS4s/ 6 mill Xbox <---- extremely unlikely
27 mill PS4s/9 mill Xbox <----- highly unlikely
25 mill PS4/11 mill Xbox <---- sales should be slightly higher for both
20 mill/16 mill Xbox <----- extremely unlikely

Nick_The_Slick1205d ago

Uh yes, 6 months ago....

They are at about 13 million now.

Nick_The_Slick1205d ago

Estimates are at 13 million for the X1.

343_Guilty_Spark1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

It was 8 months ago they said close to 10 million shipped, but if Xbox One is at 13 million that would put Ps4 at 23 million which is only 3 million more than the 20 million Sony announced in March 2015 which was 4 months ago.

Ahh....I give up. What does it matter anyone. I'm getting broker by the day with all these games.

kevnb1205d ago

The ps4 sells twice as much worldwide every month, so it wouldn't work like that.

lastking951205d ago

You're spot on PS4 and XO are under tracked by about 2 million each, it's 25m and 15m.

Godmars2901205d ago

Lends more towards how the PS3/360 was broken. Dysfunctional even.

VGChartz announced in the past that the DS was the most sold console in the world, until NPD released their numbers. They stealthy removed the previous article without saying anything... The PS2 was still the queen...
I don't believe the numbers in these articles.
