HellDivers is Probably Getting a Physical Release on PS4/PS3/PS Vita

It looks like we'll be getting another physical release for the PS Vita as well as the PS4 and PS3.

I bought this game and I'm still regretting it. I know it was well received and a lot of people liked it but IMO it was horrible and a waste of money.

I loved it. Cross-buy for PS3 & Vita is a serious bonus as well. It makes for a great pick up and play game for when I just want to shoot things.

As to the topic at hand: not sure why they would do that for a $20 game. Seems like a waste since it's online only and people who play online only... have Internet connections.

I agree with Christopher. The only way I could see this happening is if there was some major add-on in the works. An add-on mind you that frankly hasn't even been hinted at existing. It just doesn't make sense from a financial point of view. It isn't a masssive download, it's mainly seen as, and is a MP title, and no one has been clamoring for a physical release.

And to clarify, "no one" means enough combined voices to rise above a squeak on the odd forum.

I think the costs of physical distribution are sometimes overstated. Retro city rampage's developer managed to release a physical copy of his game on bluray and PS Vita, and other titles like Awesomenaughts, Telsagrad and The Last Tinker have had successful physical releases.

SOEDESCO publish most of these games. So I think for some publishers its more convenient than others. I imagine they take a very large cut of the profit to cover the costs of producing the disc. That's mere speculation but obviously they have a business model that works as SOEDESCO have published quite a few indy titles as physical releases onto the PS4.

Personally I think Helldivers would be a good fit for a physical release. I think it's a very eye-catching game in its presentation, so it would stand out alongside other titles on store shelves.

Slow?Really?Have you played the higher levels?You don't get one second to rest you're always on your toes.

As for people that want a quick short review,

The game is a twin stick co-op top down shooter in which everything and everything will kill you.A lot of stuff in this game may seem unfair but its not unfair in the sense that would put you off from the game but rather it ups the challenge.Co-op is really good,as soon as you get in a game you can throw down an SOS beacon that puts you on the 'multiplayer'list which is unnecessary as you can just enable an option in the pause menus in other games to turn this option on but this just adds another layer to the game.The progression system is awesome in this game.You have stratagems in the game which you can call down at any time during the game(they offer a lot of things such as weapons ammo crates and a GOD DAMN MECH).The only thing I don't like about this game is the DLC and how they lock you out of so many guns

But no, after trying out Helldivers recently.. It is WAY better than Alien Swarm. Can't remember the last time I touched Alien Swarm again...

This game is really cool. I like to use the mech and blast away. Its simple, cheap and does have a nice co-op.

This game is crazy fun when you play at higher levels with your friends.The only thing I dislike about the game is its DLC,I hate that fact that I have to spend 12 bucks on a game to get more weapons,they just should have followed the Riot games models and only charge for cosmetics.Another issue I have and I'm not sure if its with this game only,I bought the game on a US account since it was cheaper there but I played on my EU account which is my main account,after reaching level 20 I wanted to buy DLC for the game and did so on the US account but when I booted the game on my EU account I didn't have the DLC,so I get pissed off but ultimately accepting the fact I moved over to the US account and a few days later was playing CO-OP with a friend at my house who happened to log in as my EU account and when he went over to change cosmetics lo and behold he could use the DLC,I switched back to my EU account and again it didn't have DLC.Now this might be the same case with every DLC but why can't I use the DLC for the EU region when I can play the game I bought from the US region on that EU region.

I'd love if there was always a physical option for Vita games, good that this might get one, but many upcoming (localised) JRPG's are limited to digital only. :(
I regret my SAO Hollow Fragment purchase, as it was digital only in my country.

Love this game on my PS4. Now, a physical release is not really necessary as this is more of a small digital game on the cheap. I would rather Sony let gamers to play across all their platforms with a single purchase.

Are you kidding, your lobbying against a physical copy? Wth? I understand cross buy is amazing but physical copies of unique games u wouldn't expect a physical copy for are tremendous little treats at least for me bc i love physical merch, collecting, color game booklets, reversible covers ect. I am anticipating The Old Blood physical copy, can you imagine if Axiom Verge had a physical copy? I'd pay more.

The physical will have all the dlc and extras as well.

Helldivers lived up to it's hype and i'm thinking Alienation from Housemarquee will exceed it, they're the geniuses who gave us Resogun, DeadNation, Super Stardust and more yet ppl are not getting hyped enough for Alienation, it looks phenomenal, and it shares a similar vibe to Helldivers. If u liked Helldivers, Resogun, or DeadNation you'll certainly like Alienation.

I don't see the point of a physical release on the PS4, but I can see it being cool to have a Vita version of it on a card. At 2.6gb, it's a hefty game.

I really enjoyed it. It sad that so few play it now. About 600-800 people at any given time. Also, they updated the game with new content for free. Talk about unheard of. I might support a physical release.
