They need to announce external hard drive support. Don't want to stuff around with an internal drive and it is just a pain having no space. 1 TB will fill up quickly to with this new SKU.

GribbleGrunger1217d ago

Then it loses it's selling value. Let other companies make that mistake.

robtion1217d ago

@GribbleGrunger Sorry, not following you. What do you mean?

Mehmeh1217d ago

So in your eyes, having external hdd support is a mistake?

xfiles20991217d ago

doesnt it already have external hard drive support. The latest update with the medial player you can play a movie off your external hard drive.

By Microsoft's mistake, I have a 6TB HDD hooked up to my Xbox One. I only have 1TB on my PS4 and the majority of it is full.

This is the most silly argument ever. It literally takes 10 seconds to plop a larger HD into the ps4, no need to mess with any external for games.

ShwankyShpanky1217d ago

Really Dirk? Literally 10 seconds? Even if your screwdriver skills are lightning fast, if it was anything like the PS3, it will take HOURS to back up your current HDD to an external before swapping. I'm not looking forward to backing up ~450GB once mine is full and I'm ready to upgrade. Hopefully (but doubtful) by the time I need to do that, a slim model will be out and I can just transfer all the data to the new slim box. Even though data transfer takes WAY longer than backup on PS3, at least you only need to do it one way, without requiring a restore.

I don't see why adding external storage support for games wouldn't be highly desireable, in addition to swappable internal. This is definitely a hardware point MS got right, and couples well with their addition of a USB port on the side. I've never owned an Xbox and don't intend to, but I can still admit that this 3rd-part add-on is pretty slick:

About time!

I've been waiting for either the 1TB or Slim version to play The Order 1886 for some time now.

joab7771217d ago

At this point, just announce a 2 tb system...seriously.

MasterCornholio1217d ago

In my opinion they should drop the price of the 500GB and make the 1TB model the standard SKU.

I_am_Batman1217d ago

I think they will just replace the 500GB with the 1TB model. The price difference wouldn't be more than 20€ anyway.

Magicite1217d ago

even small price cut would make some boost.

Thatguy-3101217d ago

Any news on a NA release date?

Geobros1217d ago

We are waiting PS Blog announcement later today, story will be updated if we have news.

eclectified1217d ago

I'm just going to leave this here for anyone who already owns a PS4 and wants more storage.

Tripl3seis1217d ago

Thank you good sir I'll use this wen I pre order my hard drive to replace the one that came with the ps4 is already full.

SniperControl1217d ago

I just put in a 2tb HDD just the other day using that, took no more than half an hour start to finish.

Just a little tip which is not mentioned in the guide, make sure you format the USB drive into FAT32 or EXfat using windows, before putting the update on, i learnt that the hard way.

eclectified1217d ago

Thanks! I had no idea. I'm not quite full, but it's only a matter of time so, I'll need that.

JasonBloodbourne1217d ago

Yeah I did the same 2tb now have loads of space. Really easy to swap them over. There's a few tutorials on YouTube for those that haven't done it before. Worth checking out.

medman1217d ago (Edited 1217d ago )

Very's also great to see 1 tb hybrid drives coming down in price...I've seen a few fluctuating between 65-85 dollars or so...

ZaWarudo1217d ago

Nice, hopefully we'll get a sexy 1TB bundle this fall.

traumadisaster1217d ago

No that's not sexy, that is what you take home cause you don't have any better, sexier, options.

Sexy might look like 2 or more tb. Plus needs to come out sooner than fall.
