QJ Review: AMD's next big thing - ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

The ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be hitting the market soon, but will it follow in the footsteps of its sweetly-priced Radeon HD 4870 and 4850? As the tech-heads from Guru3D would have it, it could be a candidate for your next uber CrossFire setup.

The story is too old to be commented.

Whats the point in upgrading? There are so many powerful video cards right now and absolutely no games utilizing these to their potential. Maybe Crysis 1 & 2 get close but what else? Every other game I breeze through on my 8800gts G92 card..

It's simply news,

"Now don't take all these data as if they were written in stone - most of the data, while empirical, has been highly depended on the early engineering samples provided to several reputable review sites. Many believe that the final version might sport a few adjustments, and that is subject to review. More updates on the bleeding edge of technology as we get them."

Well done, but yeah ATi are really taking it to Nvidia, these X2 cards are insanely powerful.

sorry but from what i know only GTX280 on 3 sli can play crysis at highest resolution with AAX16Q and AF with very high setting DX 10.

i have a 9800 GTX and i can only play crysis at high no AA or AF with the resolution set to 1280 X 1024 for lag free i could play at 1920 X 1080 but it lags frequently.

even though a 8800 can play crysis at high its performance is low i upgraded from the 3870 because it could play at high but lagged and crashed on a resolution higher that 1024 X 768.

with old cards you had to choose between quality (good graphics but poor frames) or performance (good frames but bad graphics) (still better that consoles though)

with new cards (with the exception of crysis) you can play at high setting with high resolutions and get great graphics and frames if you don't use AA or AF

Do you have any idea how much 3 GTX280's would cost?!?

£899.94 including vat at ebuyer or
£831.69 including vat at cclonline

its a lot but besides crysis a 9800 GTX, 4870, 4850 will rip through everything else

but dual hd4870's would clock higher benchmarks.
