The Metroid Prime: Federation Force cancellation petition is fanboy entitlement at its worst

It's fair to say there has been a sense of disappointment over Nintendo's E3 Digital Event presentation. Its major titles - the known such as Star Fox Zero and the new Mario Tennis - failed to inspire much excitement.

One 56 second trailer caused the biggest uproar however. Among their new 3DS games Nintendo debuted a trailer for Metroid Prime spin-off Federation Force, and to put it mildly, people didn't like it.

To be fair, I think its important for consumers to speak up and say what they want. I mean, would you go forward with investing in a project if you know that not what your consumer base wants?

ShugaCane1216d ago

And aside the fact that those fans' feelings were hurt, do you think about the people who've been dragged into this and worked hard on the game ? People who invested themselves even though they probably wished to be doing something different.

There are different ways to voice an opinion. This one is, to me, irrespectuous and completely immature.

Hellsvacancy1216d ago

The people that worked on this game will get paid no matter what, you can't honestly say it took them all the brains in the world to make Federation Force, i've seen amateur mods that look better than Federation Force

Eonjay1216d ago

Okay good point. Lets tackle that. How does one maturely express dissatisfaction to a company? ANd secondly, in the article, it says that Nintendo is very keen to give players what they want and what they didn't know they wanted.

Which comes first?

I am not saying that you are wrong. I am merely offering a different perspective. I agree with your point but at the same time, it seems really disingenuous when you consider the NX is coming soon. How are they supposed to fight the feeling that the curtain is being pulled down on the Wii U?

ShugaCane1216d ago

Still, this kind of petition is ridiculous. I don't like something I don't buy it. I won't be going in a rage-mode and sign petition to CANCEL the game that is not the one I hoped for.
I mean, come on ! I'm calling it overreaction...

shadowraiserx1216d ago

Ok we dont buy it the game fails and nintendo lost a lot of cash in this spinoff.I think is better they cancel this project, the WiiU is not selling well and they need money.

curtis921216d ago

I look at this petition as a way for fans to tell nintendo they don't want the game so stop investing time and money into it when they can be doing something more worth their while. Or they could keep quiet and the game could die a slow, painful death in sales and be a flop.

It's good that gamers have a voice.

The fans r the most important thermometer..
They moved from the prospects of protecting the legacy of this awesome franchise that Nin seems eager to tarnish!
In a massive way, they r making Nin a favour

that is all these emotionally hurt fanboys need to do.

The problem with just not buying it is it can be misunderstood as people not wanting metroid in Nintendo's eyes. We want metroid, just not this trash. This is dinosaur planet being turned into star fox for name cred, accept this is 10 times worse. Don't support this garbage.

_-EDMIX-_1216d ago

Yea I know right, fans of the series actually wanting it to be the same game as its namesake. Go figure. /s

We wanted Metroid, we got a party fps game that has nothing to do with Metroid other then the damn name.

Brunire1216d ago

And the battle system, environments, enemies and HUD. But other than that, absolutely nothing to do with Metroid.

I think everyone is disappointed that Samus is not the protagonist but let's not get crazy.

_-EDMIX-_1216d ago

Thats sad that you think thats all it takes to be a Metroid game to be honest.

Brunire1216d ago (Edited 1216d ago )

And when the story ties into the Metroid universe, is it still not a Metroid game? It is a co-op Metroid Prime for the 3DS. It just happens to have some new protagonists. It's a spin-off. They get made all the time. I am sure they have plans for a classic Metroid. They are not THAT stupid.

SmokingMonkey1216d ago

This is insane! Only in 2015. I loved The Old Metroids, but this does seem kind of forced (pun)

Can they just drop the Metroid Prime name and call it;

Federation Force and be done with this?

RELEVANT This makes no sense to me. In blast ball they shoot a BALL into a goal right?

Did they forget that Samus used to turn into...A BALL!!

A morph ball version of this...Blast Ball would have made this more of a "Metroid" game.
