Sony's E3 press conference brought a lot of surprises - here are the biggest five that left you wondering how you were going to go on.
I'm sorry but you if you honesty thought Sony conference wasn't any good then you must be in denial. For the record I too think MS had a great showing.
MS conference was by no doubt great. Sony managed to answer it and that's why people are in denial.
Both had a REALLY strong showing. And I'll be honest, as much of a Playstation fan as I am, I was expecting a bad conference. But Sony pull ahead for me. And the announcements still flowing out (Nier + Platinum) Media support... MS had a STRONG showing, only thing that upset me is I have to wait until Gamescom to see Scalebound! Sony pulled ahead by a large margin for me, but that in no way discredit's the amazing job MS did.
Uncharted 4. I was expecting to be blown away...and I was! And I hear that was only half of that demo. And The Last Guardian looks to be an great game. I wish gamers would try it before knocking it as "not for me".
The Last Guardian Horizon Uncharted 4 Final Fantasy 7 remake Shenmue 3
I was more impressed with MS showing and I will get disagreed for it. The Last Guardian is Overhyped, NO, I don't have a PS4, but I did have a PS2 and PS3 and played ICO and Shadow of the Colossus which are decent games and nothing else. Obviously have not played TLG, but people are hyping team Ico for some reason? Horizon genuinely looks Badass! Uncharted 4 looked Amazing! FFVII I have no use for since I HATE turn based strategy games and since it's multi plat, I would not give Sony credit other than they showed it during their conference. Shenmue 3, while I have not played either of them, my best friend loves 2, but it was kind of weak for it to be a kickstarter funded game, almost like Sony had no faith in funding it themselves? Sony conference was not better than MS to me, 32 player Halo, Forza 6, Backwards compatibility, Gears 4, and the Rare collection really stood out for me as those are the games I like to play at the moment.
Sony smoked MS. The only suprise there was backwards compatibility and seriously who has time to play old games. Oh wait X1 players will have plenty of time in between January and October.
No new ip from M$. No surprise at all. Everyone knew that M$ would show Halo, Gears, and Forza. Sorry M$ conference was cool but nothing new as usual. Sony walked away with the win again. Be thankful Sony didn't announce at price cut for the PS4.
I was more taken aback emotionally with Sony's showing, despite MS have a strong lineup of games and a megaton in backwards compatibility. The industry doesn't agree with you about ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Those are and forever will be classics. So people are hyping Team Ico because Fumito Udea is a legendary game designer and is still making a wonderful looking game after so many believed we might never see it. The Last Guardian - whilst it may look like a simple puzzle adventure game - has a lot going on technically and still maintains the wonderful vision that it did all those years ago. The only people hating on it are those that don't understand or appreciate the gameplay. The reception was magnificent at E3, which shows people care more than you're giving credit for. Horizon: Zero Dawn was the exclusive game of show, and nothing on the Microsoft stage could possibly have outdone that game. Seriously.... Microsoft doesn't have a AAA open-world RPG on the scale of The Witcher 3, and I don't see anything from MS on that scale for the next 5 years. FFVII Remake. was another announcement that was in the top 5 most requested video games of all time. It's a huge deal, and whilst it says "first on PS4" there's nothing to suggest that it's coming to Xbox. From what I recall, Sony has the publishing rights to FFVII on consoles, and the best you will get is a PC port. It's also why Final Fantasy X/X-2 is only on PlayStation platforms. Similarly, Shenmue III has proven its worth by its fans burning through the $2 million in roughly 8 hours, now enough for Sony to go ahead and fully support. Gio Corsi confirmed the official partnership last night. If you knew the history of Shenmue, you'd know why it's an immensely difficult decision to simply go ahead and gamble tens of millions of dollars on an uncertain sequel. Announcing a Kickstarter on their stage finally gave the game a chance that we're now 100% getting, and it won't be on Xbox, if Sony is funding the game. Halo, Gears, Forza were all expected, so I don't know how that wins anything. Their gameplay demonstrations were run-of-the-mill, and Gears looked particularly dull. Their new IPs were very slim in number and either disappointingly unimpressive or were CGI trailers that Phil said there would be much less of. And all-in-all, despite your own personal feelings about what games you like, objectively Sony announced 3 of the most requested games of all time in one conference - and made people clap, cheer, whoop, scream and cry. For me personally, it was completely ethereal to see these games finally reach a state of balance and certainty. Microsoft had nothing that compares to that, other than backwards compatibility which is still only one megaton vs. Sony's 3 legendary megatons that they actually may never be able to top again. And the funny thing is, if Microsoft had scooped up Shenmue, I would be here saying that they won E3, because the series means that much to me and so many others. However, Sony are the patrons of the future of the Shenmue series, and will forever be heroes to the Shenmue fanbase, regardless of the excuses pouring out.
Your are right sir! Game is getting very little play. LBP on crack...yes please.
Uncharted, Horizon and Dreams were amazing I thought. The Last Guardian, FF7 and Shenmue bombs were also really exciting although maybe I was more excited about the idea of them rather than them if that makes sense.
5 ways Sony made you drop your *Money* at E3 *fixed* Buying 3 of 5 for sure, collectors editions at that. The Last FF I played was FF7, idk if can go back?! Will see when it's more fleshed out....very good chance I buy this one too. I never cared for Shenmue, heard the gameplay was similar to The Order. Cinematic Adventure, might pick it up too.
Sony made my bank account cry yesterday
Shenmue kickstarter made my credit card card =/
Man, was blown away last night. Friend's still reeling from last night. THE HYPE IS REAL!
I'm A gamer first n foremost, made my jaw quiver in sadness ,then, clench in anger in places.(destiny>tv) seriously wanted to die and no gt7 shat on my stay up tbh. Cheers sony.
i don't like what sony did by annoucing shenmue kickstarter. like what if it backfired on them didnt reach goal and the game died for good? now anyone can start go into E3 and announce a kickstarter beyond good and evil kickstarter next year. even half life 3 can be done with a kickstarter
It was the creators idea not sonys, he wanted to see whether the clamour was real and boy was it...
http://kotaku.com/shenmue-3... Something tells me it did very well.
If it would have backfired and failed on KickStarter then Sony may have still funded it and look like heroes to the fans of the franchise. It was a given it was going to be funded though.
Thought both MS and Sony conferences were great looking forward to tlg, horizon, u4, ff7 remake, rottr, recore, Rares pirate game, gears and a bunch of third parties like battlefront and dark souls 3. What I really wanna see is Sony bends new game though been patient with that...!
I currently don't own a PS4 but Horizon definitely have me thinking about getting one to put beside my XBOX. The Final 7 remake is pure nostalgia I'm ready to avenge Aeris again.
Well I saw the jaw drop from a TRex at the conference. :)
Uncharted 4 looks fantastic. Reminded me how much I loved Uncharted 2. Didn't find anything else all that exciting. TLG looks slow, and dated at this point. I've beaten FF7 3 times, the last time was farily recently and I don't really have any desire to go back right now. Maybe in a year or two when the game actually releases maybe I will again. Shenmue wasn't even an announcement, it just felt like pandering and lets be honest that game won't be out until 2017 maybe 2018. Horizon seems pretty cool, but I've yet to enjoy a GG game. hopefully getting away from Killzone will let this studio do something unique and fun but Im skeptical. The rest was paid DLCs for multiplats, Destiny and CoD?? yeah, no thank you
Unbelievable presser for Sony. The greatest in its history maybe? The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, VR, and Final Fantasy 7 remake. Outstanding. I believe this is the golden era of gaming coming for playstation.
not me. These games arent even coming out this year except 1 or 2. TLG doesnt impress me and i think sony fans are over hyping it way too much
1. Shenmue 2. Shenmue 3. Shenmue 4. Shenmue 5. mmmm Shenmue? Thats all i needed. Best E3 ever. gotta say though, I think the people on the show floor are getting a hell of a better experience than the rest of us, playing with Morpheus on the show floor. Can't wait.
E3 conferences, in all their history, has never been about the games coming in the next 3 months, NEVER. It has always been about new technology, what's coming in the future and new games. Is very ridiculous that some trolls here are crying and saying that Sony's conference was bad because it was about of games coming in the future. WHAAAAAAAAAT? Do you people even think about what are you writing? When you see people inventing dumb excuses from thin air it means that Sony's conference was very good and the trolls just cannot swallow it and has to create excuses that don't even has any logic whatsoever.
