Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Gets New Screenshots; Xbox 360 vs. Xbox One Comparison

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was recently confirmed for the Xbox One and it is set to release this August. The game has received a visual overhaul for the Xbox One, and Microsoft recently updated the official website with a brand new comparison revealing the different between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One version of the game. They also added some gorgeous looking screenshots of this remaster for the Xbox One.

So they changed it to look more colorful, instead of the more dark feel that actually sold the game as well.

There a quite a few differences in the scene between those screens.

They changed it so much it barely looks like Gears of War.

GoW has a very particular style and visual filter where you can just pick out a GoW screenshot easily. Soft glowing lighting on surfaces, worn but almost shiny relics.

They have changed it so much it could be any generic post apocalyptic shooter. This new shot for example http://i1.wp.com/gearnuke.c... could be straight out of a Stalker/Metro game or something.

Technically the remake might look 'better' but for me it's lost the style that made the games so distinctive.

I'm sure most people probably love it but I am not convinced. If I see more of it in motion I will make a better judgement on it.

Horde was introduced in Gears 2 and one doesn't have it.

Yes I understand that Horde wasn't in Part One. But they are including a lot of features from Part 3. And since Horde mode was a huge success in the later games and people were disappointed when it didn't show up in Judgement, I just thought that they would want to include it for this Gears remastered.

I feel Sony should have done the same. Do Drakes Fortune for Uncharted and build it up to take full advantage of the new tec for it. Then add in an online mode.

After Uncharted 4 then they can work on the Nathan Drake Collection which adds Uncharted 2, 3 and Golden Abyss

As long as these are only additional game modes, instead of removing the original ones, then it's all fine. Otherwise that's dissapointing to hear.

this is an epic fail

1) gears 1 only remaster, not gears 2 and 3, should have been a gears trilogy remaster

2) gears 4 preview looks mediocre, and has no Marcus Fenix.

3)rumors price gears ultimate edition to be 60 bucks, should be no
more than 39.99

If you don't see the value in the Ultimate Edition, hopefully Gears will make the early list of backwards compatible games you will be able to play for free if you already own it on 360. I personally disagree with everything you are saying and can't wait to play through this with my kid who missed it the first time around.

a gears of war remaster with only the first game does not make any sense, they must release the 3 of them for 60 bucks, not only the first one for the same price... thank you microsoft for gettin your shinny and corporative penis inside us all, for 15 years in a row...

The price hasn't been officially announced. I would be surprised if it was the $60 placeholder amount that was taken down earlier. Most remasters seem to hover between $40-$50. From what we have been shown, the only thing that hasn't been completely redone is the story line. The graphics are completely overhauled at 1080p and 60fps with 90 minutes of additional playtime, along with all DLC and game modes from the PC release. This will be a first on consoles. I hope we see this for $39 since I'm buying two copies at launch. If it is indeed $59 I will probably wait for the price to go lower before picking it up.

So they really aren't adding the other 2 gears in this collection...that wasn't smart.
