An opinion piece presenting different games for the system and why it is too early to write off the PS VITA as a legacy platform.
It's definitely not where it needs to be as far as this device's potential.
Man I wish they were as serious about it as they were with the PSP.
The Vita is dead. Some people are just too stubborn to accept it. Does Sony have any 1st party Vita exclusive worth mentioning, getting released any time soon? Sony is focused on the PS4. That's where the money is...
Playing mines like crazy lately, haven't actually play my ps3 in weeks. Freedom wars and spelunky finished others so it's not dead. Feel sorry for whoever that'd sells there's or think there's nothing to play on it and it's dead.
The Vita is basically a hollow. It dies but always comes back and at times shows what its really capable of. However it then dies again and so it repeats ala like the Souls series, it's not for everyone.
It's dead compared to the 3DS. ~50 million units moved vs ~10 million units moved. It's about as supported as the Wii U at this point; i.e. it takes a special team to really get a game selling on it. Don't get me wrong, there's good games for it, but there's no more money in it now.
I play more DS games on my 3DS than titles made for it. On my Vita- which I play more- I play mostly Vita games. And there's plenty. If there were no money in it, they wouldn't make games for it.
@Hicken Sony isn't making any significant games for it, and hasn't been for a long time. If there's money in the Vita apart from the ridiculously small niche audience, Sony would invest more into development of games for it. This isn't the case. There is no money for AAA first party developers with the Vita, just like you say there is no money for AAA third parties with the Wii U. You keep bashing the Wii U, but at the same time defending the Vita when they both suffer very similar issues...
@Hicken So even when the 3DS is better supported with more games from 3rd party and 1st party developers Hicken still can't seem to find games other than DS titles to play on his 3DS. BUT the Vita, a legacy device all but abandoned has PLENTY of games to play. That statement is beyond absurd. Just goes to show the lengths that some people will go to downplay everything else setting their console of choice on a make believe pedestal.
Sony needs to be aggressive or pull the plug. Price drop, memory card price drop, exclusive third party exclusive. Its this year or never.
It doesn't even matter by now...the Vita has had this "Dead/Dying" symbolism attached to it for so long, Sony would be better off detaching themselves from the Vita, and try something new.
The PS3 had the dead/dying thing symbolism attached to it in the first couple of years of its lifecycle, should Sony have detached themselves from that and moved onto something new?
It still manages to outsell Wii U. So just like the name implies, this handheld still has life in it
If it is dead then I am a necro.
not at all,it's just that there aren't enough games that make use of it's hardware. It's an indie machine now beside the gr8 japanese games that we're begging for localization OOT:Who's that kid in the image above?I've always wanted to know
It's been the best 'summer filler' console for me. When you're waiting for the next big AAA on other platforms, Vita has the variety to occupy your time.
Vita isn't dead but it's underappreciated by both customers, 3rd party developers and Sony.If it was other way - there wouldn't be even discussion about such topic. For example - I can't see any threads about 3DS being dead. Why? Because it's clear without saying that it's a successful game console.
the vita is dead to Sony, but thanks to 3rd party japanese publishers localizing it lives on, i have lots of great games i enjoy and want to get on the vita, but the problem is the genre type is severely limited by sony not pushing any first party or western titles. I love japanese games so the vita is the perfect place for many of those, its just missing a wider audience potential.
Only alive in Japan.... BUT IT'S DEAD IN THE REST OF THE WORLD GET OVER IT!
