Splatoon is Pretty Much Destiny

TheArabGamer writes: "I've recently stopped playing Destiny to play something more fresh and new, like Splatoon. Turns out there isn't much of a difference between the two."

While I don't think comparing Destiny and Splatoon is a good idea because it's an insult to Splatoon, this video was well done and quite humorous. Well done!

3-4-53246d ago

* I own and really like playing both games.

They are completely nothing alike at all so this comparison is mostly ignorant at best.

MRMagoo1233246d ago (Edited 3246d ago )

an insult to splatoon? what does that even mean? Its nothing like destiny, destiny takes some skill to play (not much but some) splatoon can be played by someone with one hand and half a brain and you can still win, it is by far the most casual game I have ever seen in my 30 years of gaming, I have a feeling it was aimed at people in the ages of 4 to 8

@tiqila

Besides the fact COD hasn't been around for 30 years, there is also the fact I don't like or play fps now days and Haven't since COD4, so no nice try though.

N4g_null3246d ago

Please log on to slaptoon so we can beat you 98 to 2.... seriously man cod... how about quake. You are calling it casual but have not played it. It's ok... sit there and camp... we will just paint around you. The level design breaks all of you preconceived ideas of how to win.

Basically fps have been needing this mod of rules for years.

Nevers0ft3246d ago

Genuine question and not an accusation... Have you played it? I wasn't sure either (I'm 41) but picked up a copy on a whim and I've been really impressed by it. It's as shallow as a puddle (pun intended) on first impression but once you get used to it and have a few matches under your belt you soon start (th)inking tactically. And ranked mode is on another level entirely, it's almost intimidating. It's Nintendo at their best - make it simple but make it nuanced.

SuperbVillain3246d ago

you dont need a whole lotta skill in destiny, especially if your a warlock

I get the feel it's about the lack of content then the gameplay, the fact that it's not a full game in a sense.

Lol, that was fun! Man I gotta pick Splatoon up. I loved the "testfire".

Just watching the game you can tell its fun. Nintendo has a hit,

magiciandude3246d ago

Splatoon looks much closer to Sunset Overdrive than Destiny in my opinion.

Concertoine3246d ago

Both games were obviously inspired by Jet Set Radio, so its not surprising they look similar.

OhMyGandhi3246d ago

...now we are comparing Splatoon to Destiny.
wow.

mysteryraz113246d ago

splatoon generic kiddie shooter, nintendo fans will hype anything even this boring excuse of a game

mikel10153246d ago

"Generic" Lol. Read a dictionary cause I don't think you know what that word means

Zulehan3246d ago

He looks at the 'cartoon' style and has a vague notion that all these games are alike in every way, whatever those ways are. It is like when someone sees a cartoon series and thinks, Man, who would watch that? It's for kids. Then they bring their kids to watch the new South Park movie...

Whymii3246d ago

Good to see balanced opinion

MadLad3246d ago

Generic? Splatoon is generic?

You're simply baseless Nintendo hater 1222345678 on the internet. That's about as generic as they come.

captainexplosion3246d ago

Well the MP is pretty generic. Just two king of the hill modes.

wonderfulmonkeyman3246d ago (Edited 3246d ago )

@Captain
An entire map to cover in Ink in order to win, does not constitute a king of the hill mode, which generally focus on one or more key areas instead of a whole map.
Splat Zones in Ranked Battles is about as close as the game ever gets to being a pure king of the hill/domination-type game.
Even then, the areas outside of the zone hold importance for filling up your special gauge and limiting your opponents travel capabilities as much as possible.
Both of which are not things present in most other games with a king of the hill mode.
Methinks, figuratively speaking, you need to quit calling a squid a salmon, because calling Splatoon's multiplayer generic, is fishy logic, at best.-_-;;

iplay1up23246d ago

Awww, what are you to big to play fun games?

I am 44 and the game is fun.

I am guessing you have not played this game

I bet you would get your butt handed to you online. You would get whipped playing a "generic kiddie shooter".

It is not Nintendo fans hyping the game little boy, it is the reviewers.

The main complaint is lack of online content in reviews, bit Nintendo has already dropped more content, with lots more on the way.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter334d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood334d ago (Edited 334d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro334d ago (Edited 334d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881334d ago (Edited 334d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell333d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig334d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast334d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername334d ago (Edited 334d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g333d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka333d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it
