No, I reject this article. Part of the whole nuclear disaster thing in the 50s and the "culture" of it is the US. Also, lol at the terrible China suggestion (it's really random). I'm guessing it makes sense since the publication is Haogamer.com

"terrible China suggestion (it's really random).

Or it could be because the primary adversaries during the Resource Wars that created the world of Fallout were China and the US.

Fallout is Raygun Gothic. Fallout is American.

Mankey3677d ago

While it could be possible, much like GTA I find it very hard to see Fallout leaving America.

So much of the lore and the story is intrinsically tied to the USA that it would be difficult to still make it feel like a Fallout game.

Well, the whole world WAS affected by the nuclear war. The charm of the Fallout series is the 1930's style of music, design and overall atmosphere. However, that doesn't mean we can't go beyond and explore the other part so the world who were affected, though I doubt it will have the same "feeling" as the original titles set on US soil.

Then again, the problem with this is that we already have games that have managed that. Case in point - the Metro games in Russia, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for Ukraine... can't think of any other at the moment but alas.

PCGamingNoobs3678d ago

no he means the 1930s,

The ink spots which feature in fallout 3 and 4 are from the 1930s / 40s. along with many others.

I would love a Fallout game set someplace else. The 30/40's American setting is only interesting for so long..

Eiffel3678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

Considering the results of the great war destroyed most of civilization the culture at that time as a result remained stagnant for two hundred years. With no society around to push development in a desolate world the 30/40's theme is all that remains of the old world, which newer generations born into the wasteland all but have. Can't say it'd be practical to suddenly change that.

Plus most of the Earth is destroyed, America is probably one of the few masses of land still habitable, that and nuclear war is apart of that country's culture so with it's absence it probably wouldn't feel like Fallout.

Mankey3677d ago

True. Also in the alternate Fallout timeline there was no push by other countries to nuclealize everything.

Viper73678d ago

Wouldn't mind a spin-off of sort with Europe as setting just to see what actually happened in the rest of the world. Title could be something very different from Fallout though.

However taking the main series off the US just seems wrong.

I think the moon would be a cool setting.

I think i made the mistake of giving Mama Murphy too many chems. Because I could never get my settlement past 98% happiness, and it even cost me the Platinum.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast81d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos81d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator81d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar183d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast182d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082182d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
