This engine is pretty easy to use. Unfortunately it's hard to take seriously given its simplicity, dated visuals, and limited options/genres.
VRFocus reports on the full Steam launch of videogame building software GameGuru following its successful Steam Early Access period.
David Seeber of Entertainment Buddha writes: "Released on Steam this month as an early access title for $14.99, GameGuru boasts itself as being the easy game designer. Packaged with a fair amount of objects, buildings, weapons, and characters to start you out with, it’s fairly easy to find something close to what you might be envisioning for your random video game idea. You can also purchase items from the GameGuru store that other users have created such as higher end textures, models, music, and backgrounds or create and sell your own free of charge."
Now I’m sure at some point every gamer in the world has thought to themselves,’ I could make an awesome game’.
I know I have. Unfortunately I have zero ability, knowledge or experience in video game creation…
So my intrigue was peaked.
Writes Gary Cook
It looks like a good place to start for the absolute beginner, but personally, I would just recommend getting familiar with Unity instead. It just has so much more potential.
Seems like GameGuru mostly just allows you to put together a bunch of pre-made components. So it's more like FPS Creator or RPG Maker than an actual game engine. You won't be able to make anything that has its own feel with GameGuru
Visuals is really dated
I agree, does look so dated.
