Kickstarter Success The Guardian's Spell Visual Novel Cancelled

Marcus Estrada writes: "This comes after a single "progress update" post in November of 2014, which itself was the only update to Kickstarter after the campaign succeeded in April 2014 (or before, for that matter). Jenni Lada of Technology Tell managed to get a hold of the developer in December. At that time, Winged Cloud revealed issues which had apparently kept them from progressing on the game - although those claims were disputed."

Refunds (Mostly) Issued to The Guardian's Spell Kickstarter Backers

Marcus Estrada writes: "It would have been nice if The Guardian's Spell launched after having a successful Kickstarter campaign. I, along with at least 179 other people, were excited to check out a cute new otome visual novel. Unfortunately, from April 2014 to May 2015, when the project was canceled, nobody knew what was going on, although we had our assumptions."

Why Was The Guardian's Spell Canceled?

Marcus Estrada writes: "After raising a little over $5,000 from 179 backers they’ve decided to refund every one of them and absolve themselves of the project. Backers want to know why. Even though I didn’t back the game personally even I admit to have been obsessively following The Guardian’s Spell. I feel an explanation is owed, but chances are we’ll never receive one. In absence of reasoning I’ve been left to my own devices wondering what the heck brought about this end. To be honest, it seemed obvious that something was wrong. After all, in July of the same year they released a little game by the name of Sakura Spirit."

Novelly Funded - Issue 6 - Romance Double Feature

Marcus Estrada writes: "Visual novels are a genre of video games that have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Basically, a visual novel is a game that focuses heavily on story/text that is usually accompanied by still or moving images. Along with this, players are often given opportunities to affect the story - but not always. Novelly Funded is my attempt to showcase some of the coolest visual novels that have shown up on crowdfunding sites."
