So whats the extended edition? It's the first I've heard of it.

Abriael3256d ago (Edited 3256d ago )

It's Europe only, at least for now. They didn't say what it includes. They said "info to follow."

DarkOcelet3256d ago

Most likely it will have a dlc campaign.

Kurisu3256d ago

From what I've read it has an exclusive scene with a couple of characters.

I'm liking the boxart.

Magicite3256d ago

if this game is anything like beyond 2 souls, then Im in!

Inzo3255d ago

Please not, I loved Heavy Rain and is still one of my favorite games but Beyond is not HR, far from it and it is painstakingly and annoyingly slow paced and sluggish, so I am definitely hoping that this is not anything like Beyond.

NewAgeisHere3255d ago

Beyond 2 Souls was a terrible game with the exception of Ellen Paige. It was a movie with occasional button pressing. Heavy Rain however was amazing.

TricksterArrow3255d ago (Edited 3255d ago )

@above posters Hmmm, no. Beyond was a game intended to tell the life story of a particular character. It was never marketed as a decision-based game. You can live and re-live key moments of her life differently by and making somewhat different decisions, but nevertheless it mostly just changes your perception of Jodie, not the story itself. The story can change based on player decision, however, in the final two chapters (and one particular time on a particular date).

Beyond does exactly what it proposes to do. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a great game if you're looking for a story-driven game with a very likable female lead.

Valenka3255d ago

Well, it was just announced yesterday ;) no information currently present, but preordering does get one a bonus mission. Naturally, the extended edition will have additional content.

Very creative box art. Love it and can't wait to get my hand on this game. Played it at the playtation experience event and loved every minute of it.

ArchangelMike3256d ago

Are the QTEs intrusive or are they like Quantic Dream QTE's?

Thatguy-3103256d ago

Of course not. They're similar to what you find in the tell tell games and quantic dreams. The reason I'm psyched for it is because I loved heavy rain. The control added to the narrative and didn't feel disruptive what so ever. Loved how the choices you made actually made a difference which this game has going for.

sobotz3256d ago

I'm sorry but, where's the "Very Creative" side in this box art? It's just 2 skulls with little editing, even a college graphic designer can think much better than that.

Thatguy-3103256d ago (Edited 3256d ago )

The skulls give the illusion of a hour glass figure which draws attention to the setting where hell will break loose. Pitch me another box art Einstein.

uth113256d ago

I've been really looking forward to this game, I don't care what the naysayers say!

Rimeskeem3256d ago

I'm with you. loved Heavy Rain and Beyond and am super excited to play this game.

04STIBluByU3256d ago (Edited 3256d ago )

I am with both of you guys. I love narrative based action/consequence based games. I loved Heavy Rain, but never got to play Beyond, which is why I hope they remaster it. On topic this game is my type of game!

Conzul3256d ago

Heavy Rain was great. Beyond wasn't - but it held its weight at least.

I'm really looking forward to this.

_-EDMIX-_3256d ago (Edited 3256d ago )

@04S- "never got to play Beyond, which is why I hope they remaster it"

WOW BRO! So they have to halt development on a new ip JUST to make a remaster? COME ON, enough is ENOUGH!

WOW, this is just like when Crystal Dynamics ported Tomb Raider "definitive" edition to PS4 and XONE instead of making a new game, or like the time Sony Santa Monica didn't do GOW IV so they could make God Of War collection.

And to think, we would have gotten at least 4 Infamous's last gen if Sucker Punch didn't waste time making that stupid Sly Collection. FACT!

I'm just tired of remasters, they hurt gamers, waste developers times and delay sequels and are made instead of new IPs...FACT! Evil, EVIL practice! (angry face!)
I mean come on, whos with me?!!

we ALL played Beyond 2 soulz bro, get with the program! /s

(...probably will get remastered before Heavy Rain though)

ps360s3255d ago

@_-EDMIX-_

I never played Beyond 2 Souls!

I would love a remaster of it as I had gave my Ps3 early in anticipation of Ps4

So quite a few games I have missed from the Ps3 gen that would be nice to be remastered for the Ps4 so I can play them

generic-user-name3256d ago

Indeed, we need more games like these. I really enjoyed Heavy Rain, and this game promises to have even more decisions that make the experience different. So not only will this game have great replayability but it'd also be a great game to stream/watch others play.

Elda3256d ago

Should of released it near Halloween.

Rimeskeem3256d ago

sooner the better i guess. As long as it's not rushed.

uth113255d ago

This gives them wiggle room to delay it until Halloween :)

Doesn't look any different to the ps4 version. Hope it's not another lazy Sony remaster a.k.a remake.

Andy_Dee64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

Wrong, they even showed it on the last State of Play and I just played it the month before since I wanted to go back to it.

It does look better and more cleaned up, it's not a remake at least what they said. They said remaster so this article is wrong from the info I've heard.

Until Dawn is getting remastered to coincide with the live-action movie.

So not a Lazy remake and yes it looks better! :)

CrimsonWing6964d ago

It’s pretty different looking.

Neonridr64d ago

I'm sure it's a fair upgrade seeing as it's UE5 now. That being said, the original was not ugly by any stretch and I can't fully understand the need to remake this other than a cash grab to coincide with the movie that is coming eventually.

Crows9064d ago

Please point to me to a lazy remake?

Hedstrom64d ago

A good game, had some fps troubles on ps4. So hopefully thats ironed out with some better looking graphics.

solideagle64d ago

I think Sony should rename PlayStation to RemakeStation. I am a Playstation fan but this is getting ridiculous. I think this is the weakest gen software-wise compared to all other gen.

PS2 > PS3 > PS1 > PS4 > PS5

Battlestar2364d ago

Agreed. Sony has released only remasters/remakes of games and noting new. MS has released so many new games i don't have the time to name the all.

solideagle64d ago

I have never owned or cared about Xbox, so I don't have any opinion about that. if you say that MS has released then I believe you I guess

Terry_B64d ago

Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, Helldivers 2 , Horizon Forbidden West to name a couple.

And what Microsoft released in the last couple of years was way beyond the league of those listed games.

MrNinosan64d ago

Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, Helldivers 2, God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West to mention a few of the good ones.
Then everything on PSVR2.
Then we have the bad ones, like Destruction AllStars and medium ones like Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

On top of that, there are lots of third party games.

Compare that to MS.
Redfall, MS Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 5, Forza Motorsport, Starfield, HiFi Rush. Did I miss anything?

Now lets compare the games, and see which console had the best start this generation.

solideagle64d ago

I think Sony should have abandoned the PS4. we have not seen true PS5 potential yet. where are those games that would load Assets from SSD where the character is looking <-- Mark Cerny

I hope all new games from Sony Studios are PS5 only from now...

CrimsonWing6964d ago

What’s worse is this gen is almost over, if you can believe it.

staticall64d ago

@solideagle
I completely agree with you. At first it was like «Hey, so cool, i've never played this game and it's getting a remake, means it'll be much better!» but now it's «Come on, i was just playing that, it still looks and plays just fine». I want to play new games, try new experiences, hear new stories from new characters. It's like gaming companies have hired George Lucas as a consultant or something.

@Battlestar23
> MS has released so many new games i don't have the time to name the all
Suuuuuuuure, dude. Come on, be real.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro64d ago

Looks like the PS4 version. Lol, that'd be 70 bucks.

Machina63d ago

Cheap and quick way to fill in the release calendar in-between major new games - that's why pretty much all the major publishers have been doing it.

This is a fun game. But remaking this is lazy. A cheap remaster while a new game is being developed would have had more value for the customer.

EvertonFC79d ago

Yeah I here ya, I'm on the fence tbh as I think the haptics could be really cool but it seems a little early.
I guess it's to tie in with the movie release so makes sense somewhat.

outsider162479d ago

This over Killzone remake? Or Socom 2 remake?

monkey60279d ago

Less effort and there's a movie release to tie into.
I am very tired of all these remakes and remasters of games from recent years. If they're going to remake anything it should be a lot older.

Chevalier79d ago

If the Resistance trilogy on PS3 was being remade I would buy that day 1. Really hope the franchise returns along with Killzone

JEECE79d ago

Socom 2 remake wouldn't be worth the effort. I don't know the exact number it finally sold, but from looking at articles from a few years after launch, it looks to have gotten in the ballpark of 3 million. It has been twenty years now so many of those people probably don't even play games anymore, and the people who play multiplayer games now would start whining about Socom about three weeks after launch about how "there isn't enough content" and "they just sent it out to die." Granted, it would probably develop a small but dedicated player base from the old crowd who want a stable, solid multiplayer game instead of a live service, but that isn't a lucrative proposition for Sony.

EvertonFC79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

It was the same when millions of gamers asked for a sly remake then when the game came out it sold like 10,000 copies.
Sometimes we think we want the old games then in reality nobody ever buys it 😂🤣

outsider162479d ago

You have a point though. I guess we want it because of nostalgia. Was hoping we'd get a socom with a good single player and ofcourse multiplayer, maybe it'll sell well.
