It's amazing how much attention DICE pays to every single details in their games, imo they're the best developers out there along with Naughty dog

Agreed. Actually can't wait for more news on Mirror's Edge 2!

The studio artists brought back several terabytes of inspiration for Star Wars™ Battlefront™.

Wow, I wonder how big each texture files is.

Pandamobile3647d ago

No bigger than any other texture file.

Unless your talking about the photos and videos and other raw data they captured out in the field.

Yes, I was talking about the raw data they captured out in the field.

I've worked with many art programs(like Photoshop) to know scanning in high textures(or making them from scratch) increases the richness(and amount) of pixel destiny. That said, starting off with a very high image quality, and then scaling them down afterwards can make a world of different visually wise.

Though, by judging by the image quality of those scans I'd say Dice devs team went well above their company standard development process to achieve the high level of graphics seen in BF3.

Though, I'm guessing since Dice were allowed to touch the straw wars original models once(with company's supervision), they took very high scans because they probably wouldn't get another opportunity to touch it again.

Personally, I think every single individual scans were either taken in 4k or 8k, and then scaled down to retain the highest image quality money can buy.

The amount of tech in this game is just insane! Hope they put the same effort into a kick-butt online mode – if that's so, then this game'll be the bomb!

You know what they didn't capture with their cameras?

A campaign, 32 vs. 32 multiplayer with bots, over 30 maps on 16 planets from all 6 episodes, about 4 dozen different characters to play as, space battles, driveable AT-ATs or anything else that made Battlefront 2 great. Matter of fact, the only thing it will have more of is premium DLC. But hey, at least it will look pretty!

30 maps is a little much to ask for a game these days. Would have been better to get 16 maps across 8 planets but hey they have to sell all of that dlc. Everything else you said is spot on. I mean idk how we have a lower player count and key game modes cut out 2 generations later. Probably because they have had so little time to make this game before the deadline that they had to cut out content. Wouldnt be surprised to get space battle dlc, prequel trilogy dlc, more dlc from the new movie and fan favorite maps from the 1st 2 games dlc.

Unfortunately even if the gameplay from E3 is mind blowing I'll still wait it out to see how much content is in the base game and what kind of dlc they plan to release. Been let down so many times by these companies in recent years due to cutting content, hiding features, releasing broken games and overcharging for dlc that I can no longer get hyped up for games these days.

Go be mad somewhere else, this is not what the article is about.

TheCommentator3647d ago

Technically, those are all Star Wars Battlefront details that I mentioned. Their cameras didn't capture any of those, so in a roundabout way it is relevant to this article. If you don't mind a game that ends up like a supermodel with a labotomy, so be it.

I don't play games just because they look pretty. I feel like I did after watching George Lucas bastardize the original trilogy with "pretty" prequels that forgot about what made the originals great.
