Naughty Dog's Ricky Cambier talks about the hardware advantages of the PS4.
“[The new tech] lets us emote more, with all the ‘bones’ we can put onto [character’s faces] – you pan round the camera to look at Nate’s face when he’s climbing and you see him grimacing and all this kind of stuff… we’re pushing the detail on a macro and a micro level that I think people are really going to respond to.” Hats off ND , take your time and give us an awesome game
I'm getting all giddy inside just reading that info! U4 will be awesome in so many ways.
Push it Naughty Dog...push it real good
This game will blow everything out of the water when it comes out!!!! All expectations will be shattered again by the PS4 as always
Keep up the good work ND!!!!!
Keep it up chaps! You are industry leaders!!
Keep pushing ND!
Theae guys never cease to amaze me. Some honest to God extremely talented people on that team. I hope they are proud of the work they do because they have no equal in this industry. Hats off to everyone at ND :)
ND are one of the devs that have mastered their craft. Well, I wonder will they use something similar to dx12 to build U4?
something like Mantle/Vulken? Whenever Des are asked about that they say the PS4 would benefit from something like that, they respond that the PS4 really doesn't need it as it is already very low level.
I haven't heard anything on that note. But I'm mentally glued on the fact that something like DX12 can really make the ps4's CPU/GPU cores process things more efficiently. However, I still think ND are doing a wonderful job with Uncharted 4. I was just wondering....that's all.
I think a lot of us wonder that too. The PS4 API is closed, so all the information we know about it is from what insiders have told us. AMD said Mantle could be ported to PS4, but the PS4 didn't really need it. Put it this way- If DX12 suddenly gives XB1 an advantage, then we will know that the PS4 API is lacking in this area :)
AMD's Mantle superseded both DX12 and Vulkan, the latter being a direct re-skin of Mantle. In fact AMD gave Mantle to MS in order to use its code for DX12's optimization aiming in profiting from its subsequent API code familiarity /compatibility with their new line of CPU/GPUs. In other words if you cant beat them, join them which frankly in this case is a good strategy should it works out for AMD in the end. http://www.extremetech.com/... Even then its often reported by people who actually know their stuff that at this point PS4's API is already more low-level/optimized API than both Mantle and DX12 as both are still one more checkpoint/layer for the engine to stop/pass from. http://gearnuke.com/naughty... Case in point, PS4's API is more optimized and less obtrusive and can only get improved going forward.
I cannot wait to see more of this game. E3 is only a month away. Here's hoping that Sony is planning to have the expo playing in movie theaters again.
ND are one of the reasons I continue to buy Playstation. Ever since I first played Crash Bandicoot on PS1 (first PS game I ever owned) I have admired their work.
I hope they can push it as far as they can go. Love that there's so much detail added into this game. Excited to finally play it!
